The day of the Turtle Race the adopted turtles will be taken to Mustang Bayou and gently dropped in from the bridge along the Tom Blakeney Hike and Bike Trail. The turtles will then “race” down the bayou to the finish line near the Adoue St. Bridge where they will be “scooped” out and the winners determined. The adopter of the first turtle to cross the finish line will win the first place prize of a travel voucher valued at $1,500 to a destination of choice. The first place prize is sponsored by Stantec. The second place prize is a $1,000 shopping spree sponsored by David and Tracy Vela, and the third place prize is an iPad valued at $500 sponsored by Ron Carter Automotive Dealerships. Seven other valuable prizes will be awarded to the adopters of subsequent turtles to cross the finish line. If weather does not permit the race to take place, a drawing will be held to determine winners. Prior to the Turtle Race, the Foundation will conduct the 4th annual 5K Family Fun Run/Walk and 1K Kids Fun Run/Walk sponsored by Kelsey Seybold.
