However, in recent years, while declining HIV trends are evident at the national level as well as in most of the States, some low prevalence and vulnerable States have shown rising trends, warranting focused prevention efforts in specific areas. The National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) is strongly evidence-based and evidence-driven. Based on evidence from ‘Triangulation of Data’ from multiple sources and giving due weightage to vulnerability, the organizational structure of NACP has been decentralized to identified districts for priority attention. The programme has been successful in creating a robust database on HIV/AIDS through the HIV Sentinel Surveillance system, monthly programme reporting data and various research studies.

    15 October 2019 India: Attacks and harassment of human rights defenders working on indigenous and marginalized people's rights On 5 October 2019, Soni Sori was arrested by the Dantewada Police under Preventive Sections 151, 107 and 116 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure. The arrest is believed to be linked to the human rights defender’s public campaign for the rights of persons languishing in jails in the State. Soni Sori was charged with “failing to obtain the necessary permission to organise a demonstration”. She was released on bail by the local court that same day. On 16 September 2019, the Chhattisgarh police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Soni Sori and human rights defender Bela Bhatia. This FIR is believed to be a reprisal against the two human rights defenders for their participation in a protest and their filing of a complaint in the Kirandul police station demanding that an FIR be lodged against the police and security forces for the killings of human rights defenders, Podiya Sori and Lacchu Mandavi. Soni Sori is a human rights defender who advocates for the rights of indigenous people in India, with a focus on women's rights. She works in Chhattisgarh, where the long-term conflict between Maoists and government security forces has greatly affected the indigenous people in the area. Alongside other human rights defenders, she has uncovered human rights violations committed by both sides of the conflict. In 2018, Soni Sori was the regional winner of the Front Line Defenders Award for human rights defenders at risk.

Tribal communities live in various ecological and geo-climatic conditions ranging from plains, forests to K e yw or ds hills and inaccessible areas. From the study, it was observed that majority of Tribal farmers, the tribal farmers belonged to middle age category, mostly illiterates, having Socio -economic small farm size, with medium farming experience, no training received, with profile and assets generation medium risk orientation, having medium religious belief, with medium achievement motivation, having medium extension contact, with medium mass Article Info media exposure and medium ethnocentrism. Sahu Shaheed Gundadhoor College of Agriculture and Research Station (Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya) Jagdalpur, Bastar 494 005 (Chhattisgarh), India *Corresponding author ABSTRACT An investigation for tuber crops based farming system studies under the project Tribal Sub Plan, AICRP on Tuber Crops was conducted with different components of farming conducted during the year 2012-13 to 2015-16 at two locations of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. The ᵒ Location-1 was Village: Gumiyapal, Tokapal Block, Bastar District, Chhattisgarh State (N 19 07.181’ and E 81ᵒ 50.905’; 506 msl) and Location -2 was Village: Tatirash, Keshkal Block , Kondagaon District , Chhattisgarh State (N 19 ̊ 59.961' and E 081 ̊ 35.427'; 644 msl). The Socio- economic profiles of the farmers of both locations were recorded before and after intervention of the farming system studies. After the intervention of tuber crops based integrated farming system in the farmer’s field in Gumiyapal village, the farmers gross and net income increased to Rs 5,33,110/- and Rs 403720 ha-1, respectively. The increase in income was due to K e yw or ds integration of tuber crops, fruit crops, fish, poultry and ducks along with cereals and pulses.

It reveals utilization of flowering Tiruvuru, Krishna, Andhra plants belonging to 39 genera comprising of 26 families, out of these26 families are of dicotyledons, 2 of Pradesh, India monocotyledons. The present survey provides information on the therapeutic properties of 41 crude drugs. The study was undertaken during the period from January 2014- December 2017; data was obtained based on personal observations and interviews with traditional healers. These drugs were used as decoction or infusion of whole plants, leaf, bark, flower, fruit and seeds are used internally. During the present study it has also been observed that most of the plants are common except few vulnerable species like, Abrus precatorius L., Aegle marmelos, Hemidesmus indicus (L.) R.Br and Vitex negundo L, etc. within the study area. As these crude drugs were not reported earlier from the study area. As the traditional herbal remedies are based on ancestral knowledge and empiric experiences, this type of ethno- medicinal survey is useful in determination of bio prospecting potential of medicinal plants.

    SECOND FIVE-YEAR PLAN 1 ^ - 1 9 6 1 Andhra Pradesh Planning and Development Department Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad 1957 PREFACE With the Reorganisation of States from 1st November 1956, the need for an integrated Plan of Andhra Pradesh comprising the plan of erstwhile Andhra and that relating to the Telangana region of erstwhile Hyderabad was increasingly felt. After the formation of Andhra Pradesh, we could only obtain a tentative break-up of the Com­ posite Hyderabad State Plan. The allocation of the pkn of erstwhile Hyderabad between Telangana, Kar­ nataka and Maiathwada has been approved only recently by the Planning Commission. An attempt has, therefore, been made to brmg together the revised plan of the Ardhra region and the plan for the Telangana region in order to provide the plan of Andhra Pradesh and the result is the present publication. This publication is divided into three parts. Part I deals with the General aspects and gives a bird’s-eye view of the economy of the State together with an outline of the Second Plan and how it is proposed to be financed. Part II gives in detail the schemes proposed to be im­ plemented along with the targets programmed to be achieved and Part III contains statistical appendices rekvant to the plan schemes. Schemes included in the plan and not yet taken over for execution in 1956-57 or 1957-58 will have to be im­ plemented in the next three years. Although the plan is flexible to admit of changes in the schemes included in the plan, the greatest amount of care has to be exercised by the Departments in proposing changes.
