ABOUT GUESTS & SPEAKERS

Mr O’Farrell served in the Parliament of New South Wales from 1995 to 2015, including as the State’s 43rd Premier between 2011 and 2014. As Premier, Mr O’Farrell initiated and led annual trade missions to India to promote economic, cultural and social links between New South Wales and the states of India. He has also served as NSW’s Special Envoy for India and has made a significant contribution as the Deputy Chair of the Australia India Council Board. Mr O’Farrell has a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University, Canberra. Born in Melbourne, Mr O’Farrell grew up in Darwin. He is married to Rosemary and they have two adult sons. Shri Navdeep Suri is Distinguished Fellow and Director of the Centre for New Economic Diplomacy (CNED). He leads existing CNED programmes in Morocco, Kigali and Dhaka — and in creating new areas of focus in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Gulf. Shri Suri has had a 36-year long career in the Indian Foreign Service. He served in India’s diplomatic missions in , , Washington, Dar es Salaam and London. He was India’s Consul General in Johannesburg, High Commissioner to Australia and Ambassador to and the UAE. He also headed West Africa and Public Diplomacy departments in India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Shri Navdeep Singh Suri His initiative to introduce social media in the Ministry of External Affairs and its diplomatic missions in Career Diplomat & Former 2010 was commended. His contribution to building stronger ties between India and UAE was recognised Indian High Commissioner to by the President of UAE when he conferred on Navdeep the country’s second highest civilian award — Australia the Order of Zayed II.

Professor Iain Martin commenced as Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University on 1 July 2019. Professor Martin comes to Deakin from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom where he was Vice- Chancellor from 2016. Prior to that, Professor Martin was Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic at the University of New South Wales from 2012 to 2016. Professor Martin spent the previous 12 years at the University of Auckland in New Zealand where he held a number of positions, including Head of Surgery, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and, for the last 18 months of his time there, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategic Engagement with responsibility for external and international Professor Iain Martin engagement. Professor Martin grew up in the UK and completed his medical degree, a doctorate and a Master of President & Vice Chancellor, Deakin University Education at the University of Leeds. After graduation he trained as a surgeon specialising in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery. During this time, he held clinical and academic appointments in Leeds. Professor Martin’s move from a clinical academic career to wider university leadership roles was driven through his passionate belief in the importance of universities and the transformational power of higher education for individuals and communities. He has led a number of major projects in Auckland, Sydney and the UK to enhance and grow university education, research and innovation performance.

Priyadarshini has over 19 years of experience across telecom, consumer durables, pharmaceuticals, HR consultancy, insurance, and manufacturing, and is now a Mumbai based independent Consultant enabling corporates on Organization Effectiveness / Culture & Diversity and Inclusion. As a ‘Home Chef’ Priyadarshini is associated with Mumbai based food portals, curated kitchens and pop- up food stores bringing mouthful of taste from across the globe to the food lovers. Priyadarshini Gupta She has rich, diverse exposure in Diversity and OD roles in organizations like Cummins, Mondelez, Airtel, Diversity & Inclusion Lead Samsung India, Mercer Human Resource Consultants & Torrent Ltd. At Samsung India, she grew to be a Tata Group mentor for various cross functional six sigma projects. As a free-lance Consultant, she has done significant work in Mumbai for reputed organizations like TATA- AIG, BIRLA Financial Services, MSEB. The area of focus has been OD – Talent Management, L&D and Policy and systems and Diversity and Inclusion and Prevention of sexual harassment at workplace. Since December 2010, she has been involved in focused roles around Diversity and Inclusion and has led the Diversity and Inclusion agenda for organizations of repute as Cummins and Mondelez in capacity of a consultant.

Ravneet was awarded the prestigious Business Leader of the Year at the India Australia Business and Community awards 2018. She was also awarded Exceptional Woman of Excellence in Women Economic Forum 2019. She holds various Vice Chancellor’s Awards of Excellence and outstanding contribution to building economic social and human capital. She also serves as the President of Australia India Business Council (Victoria).

With over 28 years of experience in the International education and training sector, she has been instrumental in establishing global collaborations and strategic partnerships. She set up the Deakin Ravneet Pawha University office in 1994, the first ever international ‘University office’ in India of any foreign education provider. She has developed 20 strong holistic partnerships across Government, academia, industry Deputy Vice President and research specifically for Deakin University in India / South Asia and has contributed to the immense (Global) & CEO (South Asia), Deakin University success globally. She is an inspirational leader and a passionate entrepreneur.

Michelle is a thought leader who has been promoting Victorian women leaders in a big way. She led Global Victoria’s first inbound women’s mission in March 2020. Currently, she is responsible for promoting trade, investment and education linkages between Victoria, Australia and India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and the South Asian region.

Prior to her appointment she managed the Queensland Government’s overseas network and spent 15 years as an Austrade Trade Commissioner in Madrid, Milan and Kuala Lumpur, specialising in Michelle Wade infrastructure, renewables investment and education. She is closely associated with NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform, digital solutions, and mentor to the Atal Innovation Mission.

She is former Non-Executive Chairperson of Dena Bank, appointed by the Government of India to steer the resolution of the stressed Bank, eventually leading to merger with Bank of Baroda. She was earlier Anjali Bansal a global Partner and Managing Director with TPG Growth PE responsible for India, SE Asia, Africa and the Middle East. She started her career as a strategy consultant with McKinsey and Co. in New York. Founder & Chairperson AVAANA Capital She serves as an independent non-executive director on several leading boards including Tata Power, Bata, Kotak AMC, and Piramal Enterprises. She has previously chaired the India board of Women's World Banking, a leading global livelihood-promoting institution and on the Managing Committee of the Indian Venture Capital Association.

Amanda is global leader in the fields of; Business Transformation, Marketing, Brand, Customer and Entrepreneurship. Her career spans 25 years working across US, Canada, APAC and Japan markets in both Executive and Non-Executive roles. She serves as Vice-President Marketing Services Center Asia (Bengaluru, India) leading the Marketing Transformation agenda for IBM’s Artificial Intelligence, Cloud & Quantum computing business. Previously she was Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Chief Customer Officer of IBM A/NZ and Board Director IBM Australia. Amanda has served as Executive Sponsor People with Disability at IBM and is an Amanda Johnston-Pell, IBM Women Advocate and Mentor across APAC markets where she works closely with the next Vice President IBM generation of Marketing & Customer Leaders. Marketing Services Center She is a Member of Chief Executive Women Australia representing Australia’s most senior and Asia distinguished women leaders. She is an Advisory Board Member, The Sydney School of Entrepreneurship where she is advising the new generation of Start-up Founders and Sparsha Trust, serving underprivileged children in India.
