An Open Letter from International Journalists to the UNHRC It is worth mentioning that there are more people joining the campaign... An Open Letter from International Journalists to the United Nations Human Rights Council : Save Rohingya Muslims "… Whoever kills a person-unless it is for murder or corruption on earth-it is as if he killed the whole of mankind; and whoever saves it, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind." (Quran 5:32) “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.” ( Matthew 5:21-22) "All men tremble at punishment, all men fear death, Liking others to oneself, one should neither slay nor cause to slay."(Dhammapada: Chapter 10:1) “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13) Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, These days, the world is witnessing bloodshed in many places: The Saudi-led coalition is bombing Yemen; Syria is torn apart as superpowers are seeking their interests; more than 500,000 Yemeni children are suffering from starvation and there is no shelter for Syrian families from terrorists’ crime. The terrorist groups, supported by superpowers, continue their activities and their carnage. Meanwhile, recently the crimes against a group of Myanmar people have led to the murder and displacement of thousands of Muslims in this country. The Muslim minority of Myanmar are deprived of their citizenship rights and forced out of their country and their homes while their farms and cottages are burnt. According to the Human Right Watch recent statement, new satellite imagery shows several hundred buildings are burned in Burma’s Rakhine State; the imagery shows that 99 percent of the village was destroyed. Damage signatures are consistent with fire, including the presence of large burn scars and destroyed tree cover. Save Rohingya Muslims ǀ 1 Amnesty International has also stated that Myanmar’s security forces planted internationally banned antipersonnel landmines along its border with Bangladesh, which have seriously injured at least three civilians, including two children, and reportedly killed one man. Moreover, up to 400,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled violence in northwestern Myanmar to neighboring Bangladesh, a U.N. agency official said recently, adding that more than 1,000 people, mostly Rohingya, may have been killed in Myanmar. Living desperately in refugee camps, the Rohingya refugees are threatened by the governments to be deported to their countries, which portrays the human violence in the age of rationality and cannot be ignored. Also the Israel, well known for his violation of human rights, is the main arm supplier of Myanmar and continues to arm Burma military amid ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims. On June 5, in answer to a parliamentary question by Knesset member on weapons sales to Myanmar, Avigdor Lieberman said that Israel “subordinates [itself] to the entire enlightened world, that is the Western states, and first of all the United States, the largest arms exporter. We subordinate ourselves to them and maintain the same policy.” However, Haaretz also points out that Lieberman statement is incorrect. The United States and the European Union have imposed an arms embargo on Myanmar. It is noteworthy that all these crimes are happening before the Myanmar's Nobel Peace Prize winning Aung San Suu Kyi, who not only refrains from condemning these crimes against humanity, but also claimed that the situation is being twisted by a "huge iceberg of misinformation". World leaders, NGOs and fellow peace prize winners, including Malala Yousafzai and Archbishop Desmond Tutu has condemned Aung San Suu Kyi's apparent inaction in response to the emerging crisis in Myanmar. Hereby, we, as the international journalists, photographers and media activists condemn in the strongest terms the Muslims’ holocaust in Myanmar, and call for an emergency meeting of the UN Human Rights Council on this issue, before the world faces the worst bloodshed after the WWII.
