Premium features of Prime Video include 4K Ultra HD, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and mobile downloads for offline viewing of select content. Additionally, there is the possibility to rent or buy movies and TV episodes which are not included within Prime Video and subscribe to more than 100 premium channels which Amazon Prime Video Channels subscriptions.

Amazon is uniquely positioned within the VoD industry, given that millions of consumers already use the company’s other services for everything from shopping to cloud computing. As expected, younger demographics seem to be the most frequent viewers of Amazon’s video content.

Statista’s Digital Marketing Outlook shows a forecast of Video-on-Demand users by segment from 2017 to 2025. According to this report, 1,986.2 million people will use Video-on-Demand by 2025. This enormous number illustrates the increasing importance of Video-on-Demand services and confirms that the streaming boom is expected to continue in the next years.
