2018 Losonci Pinot Gris Matra, Hungary Bálint Losonci entered the wine business as a writer for the wine magazine Borbarát under László Alkonyi. He was exposed to a whole world of Hungarian wines in the late 1990s that was just waking up after Communism. He then apprenticed under Gábor Karner (whom he found via Borbarát), and joined a few other liked minded small producers who believed in the future potential of the Mátra appellation. Hungary’s Mátra appellation is quietly the second largest in the country (7500+ hectares), but has been dominated by just a few larger industrial players – perhaps a bit of a Soviet cooperative era hangover. The typical vine density is designed for large tractors and there’s a disturbing amount of Müller-Thurgau and Chasselas geared more for table grape yields than wine. He and others greatly increased vine density, planted native grapes, moved to organic farming, and drastically reduced yields. In the cellar, the main tenants are native fermentation and no other additions other than SO2. Given the wines typical of the area, all of this was somewhat unheard of on a commercial level. He continues to experiment and push himself, but what remains constant is his unwavering community oriented mindset and desire to put Mátra back on the wine map. His vineyards and wines reflect this drive, ambition and generosity. VINEYARDS Roughly 8 hectares are spread across the villages of Gyöngyöspata, Gyöngyöstarján and Nagyréde (single vineyards include Gereg, Tamás-hegy, Sárosberek, Peres, Virág-domb, Oroszi, and Lógi). The first thing Bálint did was plant in between the existing rows (pre Communist era vine density), retrained the vines to drop yield to maximum 1 kilo per plant, and transitioned to organic farming. -

The main source of data for the 2015 Survey of Area under Vine was the Wein-ONLINE system operated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMNT). Data from the remaining federal states was collected by means of a questionnaire (primary data collection). Information relating to the (approved) nurseries was provided by the Burgenland and Lower Austrian Chambers of Agriculture and the Styrian state government (Agricultural Research Centre). According to the 2015 Survey of Area under Vine, Austria’s vineyards occupied 45,574 hectares. The planted vineyard area was 45,439 ha, which corresponds to 94 ha less (or a 0.2% decrease) in comparison to the 2009 Survey of Area under Vine. The long-running trend that suggested a shift away from white wine and towards red was quashed by the 2015 Survey of Area under Vine. While the white wine vineyard area increased by 2.3% to 30,502 ha compared to 2009, the red wine area decreased by 4.9% to 14,937 ha. Figure 1 shows the evolution of Austrian viticulture after the Second World War. The largest area under vine was recorded in 1980 at 59,432 ha. From 1980 onwards, the white wine vineyard area has continuously decreased, while the red wine vineyard area has expanded. -

Abadal Picapoll 2008 Winery: Bodegas Masies D’Avinyo Region: Pla de Bages D.O. Grapes: 100% Picapoll Winery: Masies D’Avinyo is leading the charge of quality wine production from this, one of the oldest vine growing regions in the world, el Bages, named for Bacchus the Roman god of wine. The vines are cultivated on carefully structured terraces, influenced by a Continental- Mediterranean climate, with low rainfall. This leads to highly structured wines that maintain a freshness and delicacy rarely found in such rich wines. Vineyards are planted with native and French grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Mando and Picapoll. A strong technical background is used in vineyard management, for example, specific total leaf area per mass of grapes to assure ripeness. This is combined with a detailed interaction with each vintage. In warm vintages, new oak is purchased with lower levels of toast, in cooler vintages barrels with higher levels of toast are used. A combination of French, Hungarian and American oak is used in aging the wines. Wine: This wine issues from a regeneration of indigenous and autochthonous grapes lead by Masies d’Avinyo in Pla de Bages. Picapoll, Trepat, Sumoll and other local grapes are being replanted or grafted to existing root- stocks. While often confused with Picpoul, this grape has been grown in the area since Roman times, being referenced in the writings of Pliny the Elder. Picapoll berries are small, oval and thick-skinned; though there are larger berried clones used as a table grape. The grape requires a lot of attention in the vineyard as bunches tend to grow smaller, “shoulder” clusters which need to be pruned off for proper ripening. -

DOI: 10.2478/vjbsd-2021-0006 24 Visegrad Journal on Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development 1/2021 DISTRIBUTION OF ADULT EDUCATION PARTICIPANTS IN BORSOD-ABAÚJ-ZEMPLÉN COUNTY Dávid Hajdú* Szent István Egyetem Doctoral School of Management and Business Administration, Gödöllő, Hungary The present study presents adult education institutions and participants in adult education at the national level, highlighting the Borsod-Abaúj- Zemplén County. It shows the decrease in the number of tasks and the change in the types of maintainers, the decreasing trend of the number of privately maintained institutions and the number of students. Thanks to public interventions, private-run institutions have completely shrunk in the last 7 years due to support for training. Private institutions receive little or no state support for the teaching of the professions listed in the National Training Register, which means that students can only study in private schools for a fee. This decision resulted in the dissolution of most privately maintained institutions, their merging into local Vocational Training Centres or church institutions. The main goal of the research was to get a realistic picture of the causes of institutional change.
