Audition Information Audition Date, Times and Location: Saturday, September 26 (attend one session) Session 1, Register at 9:00 a.m., audition from 9:30 a.m. - noon, or Session 2, Register at noon, audition from 12:30 - 3:00 p.m. Callbacks, Immediately following session 2 (approx. 3:00) At the Playhouse of the Village Players, 34660 Woodward Avenue, Birmingham Audition Requirements Recite a one-minute monologue of your choosing (Preferably memorized) Sing a song from the show: Song Choices – All those auditioning should choose one to sing from the following songs (Sheet music is available on our website.) . All Boys – Greased Lightning . All Girls – Freddy My Love Song Choices – If you are auditioning for a lead role, you need to prepare the following: (Sheet music is available on our website.) . Kenickie – Greased Lightning . Marty – Freddy My Love . Rizzo - Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee . Sandy – Sandra Dee Reprise . Danny – Alone at the Drive-In Movie . Teen Angel – Beauty School Dropout – Reprise . Johnny Casino – Born to Hand Jive . Doody - Those Magic Changes . Roger - Mooning Rehearsal Schedule September 30 – December 3: Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Not all cast members will be called to all rehearsals.) No rehearsal Thanksgiving week Wed. and Sat. (Wednesday, Nov. 25 & Sat, Nov. 28) We ask that you list all of your conflicts on the audition form you will complete during auditions. Tech Week/Dress Rehearsals (No Conflicts Allowed) Saturday, Dec. 5, 11:00p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Performance Dates (No Conflicts Allowed) December 10 & December 11 at 7:00 p.m., call time 4:30 p.m. December 12 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m., call time 11:30 a.m. (Actors don’t leave the theatre between shows.) December 13 at 2:00 p.m., call time 11:30 a.m. (All cast members and one family member must stay to strike show immediately following performance.) General Requirements Open to all actors, ages eight to eighteen. No experience necessary. All actors will be notified by email regarding casting status. All those cast will pay a $200 production fee. Families of cast members are required to volunteer at two productions and to help strike the set. Show Synopsis Kenickie – the second in command of the Burger Palace Boys; Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and gum-snapping "Pink Ladies" tough-looking, tattooed, surly and avoids any show of evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking softness. She's a bit of a pain and charm unpopular with the Pink Ladies, and can twirl a baton. Sandy Dumbrowski – New girl in town; sweet, The Pink Ladies - the club-jacketed girls' gang who wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent hang around with the Burger Palace Boys. Betty Rizzo – Leader of the Pink Ladies; tough, sarcastic The Burger Palace Boys - A super-cool, DA-haired, and outspoken but vulnerable hard-looking group of high school wheeler-dealers... or Frenchy – a dreamer; good-natured but not too smart, so they think. she is heavily made up, fussy about her appearance, Teen Angel – Sings Beauty School Dropout particularly her hair. She can't wait to finish high school so she can be a beautician Marty – the 'beauty' of the Pink Ladies; pretty and looks older than the other girls, but betrays her real age when she opens her mouth. She tries to act sophisticated. Jan – Funny, loud, compulsive eater and awkward member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with boys Doody – the youngest of the guys; small, boyish and open, with a disarming smile and a hero-worshipping attitude towards the other guys. He also plays the guitar. .
