An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with countless school and public productions place Grease among the most popular musicals in the world. Groups that perform for a younger audience or produce musicals with young actors now have the perfect version of Grease for their needs. Shorter and more appropriate in content for teens and subtens, this abbreviated version retains the cheerful spirit and immortal songs that make Grease a favorite among rock and roll lovers of all ages. The school version removes all profanity, obscene behavior, and rizzo pregnancy scare. Since the rizzo pregnancy scare is removed, the song there are the worst things I could do is also removed from this edition. The school version is about 15 minutes shorter than the standard version. In addition, the following School Edition songs have undergone lyrical changes: Alma Mater Parody Of Freddie's Summer Nights, My Love Greased Lightning Look at Me, I Sandra Di Beauty School dropping out the rest of the songs have been edited for a while, removing some verses from the original songs. Ian is a funny, loud, compulsive eater, and a clumsy member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with the boys. Doody is the youngest of the boys; small, boyish and open, with a disarming smile and a hero worship attitude towards other guys. He also plays the guitar. Kenickie is second in the Burger Palace Boys team; hard look, tattooed, sullen, and avoids any show of softness. He has an extraordinary sense of humor. Sonny Latirri is a member of the Burger Palace Boys; Funny Italian-American, he's a braggadocio and wheeler-dealer who thinks he's a real lady-killer. Roger is anything to laugh about the chunky type of boy; A clown who loves winding people, he is full of mischief and always dreams of half-baked schemes and ideas. Vince Fontaine is a typical teenage audience disc jockey; selfish and and and He is also a veteran of 'Greaser.' Cha-Cha, aka Charlene DiGregorio - the best dancer in St. Bernadette; loud mouth, she wins a dance competition with Danny.Eugene Florczyk - valedictorian class; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a high voice. Burger Palace Boys - super-cool, DA-haired, hard-looking group of high school wheeler-dealers. Or so they think. Main article: The organization adapted Grease into a feature film, also entitled Grease in 1978, directed and choreographed, which also staged the show on Broadway. In addition to Birch, three performers from the stage version moved to the cast: reprised her role as Ian, acted as presenter Danny Suko while playing Kenickie, whose character got a closer friendship with Danny than seen in the musical. The Australian country/easy listening singer was cast as Sandy; to accommodate the casting movement, the character was rewritten so that she was Australian, also adding two songs (big-band inspired 'and 'ballad') from John Farrar, Newton-John's personal producer and songwriter. Other stars included as Rizzo, as Frenchy as Marty (whose surname is given as Maraschino), as Sonny LaTierri as Patty Simcox, as Eugene as Cha-Cha, as Vince Fontaine as Johnny Casino and Players, and as a Teenage Angel. Played a character named Doody, who lacked much of the character's distinctive personality. Roger/Rumpa's character, along with all his scenes and both of his songs, was written from the film, with Putzie, a new character played by filling in the gaps in the script. Miss Lynch has been rewritten both, with and plays the principal and vice- chief tandem. In addition to removing Roger's character and instructing Sandy's origins, the film made several other changes to the narrative and gave some on-screen roles. Coach Calhoun, only briefly mentioned and unnamed in the musical, is portrayed. Guy Cha-Cha and the main contender with Greasers called Craterface and played. One notable addition to the storyline is Craterface vs. Smeared Lightnin'. One of the athletes vying for Sandy's attention, again only briefly mentioned in the musical, appears on screen, portrayed. The lubricant was a major success for both Stigwood and those who have been re-titled several times; Teh international hits from several songs. Paramount also produced a sequel, which had no participation from Jacobs (which is openly disapproved) or Casey and followed a younger class of students at Rydell High School. Several supporting characters (Frenchy, Eugene, Craterface and most of the school staff) reprised their roles, with Birch taking on directing duties in addition to choreography, while coming from the stage version. was both a critical failure and, while hardly profitable, a financial disappointment given the high expectations set by the original film.
