The decision to close school, to start late or to dismiss early is difficult due to weather conditions that can vary considerably within the school district. For this reason, your cooperation and understanding are appreciated. A two-hour late start announcement may be made the evening before or the morning of school if the forecast is for inclement weather. This is done to gain additional time to make a decision based on actual conditions. When a late start is announced, please continue to listen for future announcements.

Should it become necessary to close during the school day, stations will be notified as soon as the decision is made so you know when to expect your child/children home. Parents/guardians of young children who work outside the home are urged to make special arrangements in the event of early dismissal due to the danger of delivering young children to unattended homes.

Parents/guardians make the ultimate decision on whether or not to send their child/children to school in questionable weather. You may exercise your option to keep your child/children home if you feel it is unwise to send them to school and you may come get your child/children if you feel winter weather is threatening.

Your cooperation is also important in the area of winter clothing. Young people often resist wearing appropriate cold weather clothing to school and school events. Please insist that your child is properly dressed for inclement winter weather.
