Assiniboine-Birdtail Integrated Watershed Management Plan 2 Assiniboine - Birdtail Integrated Watershed Management Plan A Word from the PMT Chairman Greetings, As the chair of the Assiniboine-Birdtail Watershed Project Management Team, I am pleased to present the first Integrated Watershed Management Plan. It is my hope that this first step may be the beginning of a more thoughtful approach to land use planning. Decisions will address not only the desire to maximize economic profitability, but also the long-term needs and hopes of the broadest segment of this region’s inhabitants, bird, fish and animal as well as human. In this time of climate uncertainty, I am confident that decision makers moving forward will use lessons learned from the past, along with information in the IWMP to guide their decisions, resulting in perpetually sustainable economic activities, and high standards of health and quality of life. My sincere thanks to all who contributed time and knowledge to this project, which would not have come to be without them. Disclaimer The list is intended only as a preliminary screening tool for identification of potentially impacted sites in Manitoba. The list alone should not be relied upon to determine if impacts are present on a site. Impacts from on-site activities or neighbouring properties may be present but have not been brought to the attention of this department. The list includes sites for which Manitoba Conservation maintains a file; however not all sites have impacts exceeding applicable guidelines. Some sites may have been remediated but residual impacts may remain that do not pose a threat to human health or to the environment. The list includes impacted or contaminated sites in Manitoba that have been entered in the Department’s Environmental Management System database, but may not include all sites for which the Department currently maintains files. A complete file search is recommended to confirm all the information Manitoba Conservation maintains on a site. • Of Research Materials 2Nd Edition (2015)
An Index of Research Materials 2nd Edition (2015) To [Still] Be Completed… Introduction This list was conceived when I was scanning all of the museum’s artifact sheets into the museum computer, making me the first and probably last person to ever run through the entire catalogue. The unparalleled opportunity to learn what the museum’s collection holds gave me the the idea to create a handy index of various resources useful for genealogical and other local history projects which are at the immediate disposal of the Birdtail Country Museum. This list is not complete, nor has it even been proofread since I ran out of time. However, it does contain everything I encountered and thought relevant in the catalogue, and so can still be of use; this is not say that it couldn’t use some work, even in its categories. Though some items herein have more than one copy in the collection, usually only one artifact number has been added for each of them for expediency’s sake; the idea is not about keeping an accurate record so much as about knowing what the Museum has available. Furthermore, some indexed items are not artifacts and so have never been catalogued. I didn’t try to locate the bulk of the items listed. August 2014 Introduction to Second Edition This list is still not complete, and could especially use the locations of these materials. As usual, I didn't properly calculate the amount of time allocated to the project; nevertheless, I have made some additions to the Museum’s research materials list.
