Butler in 2015, and I am now currently attending Hawk- eye Community College where I was accepted on the dean’s list for my first two semesters. There I will be receiving my Liberal Arts degree and then transfer to the University of Northern Iowa to pursue a Public Relations major. Now for the start of my crazy year! I was crowned Miss Allison in the beginning of May, and when mid-June came around it was off to the judging day at the Butler County Fair. I was nervous first showing up but all the other towns’ queens were so friendly. I relaxed and had so much fun. We enjoyed a great breakfast and scavenger hunt in the morning. When crowning came around I was so excited to see who had won, I thought any of the queens were deserving. I am so blessed and honored to be chosen as the 2015 Butler County Fair Queen. I attended all of the shows which I hadn’t been able to do since I was a kid. I was able to show a dairy cow, be interviewed on the radio, and meet Easton Corbin. The scrambles are always a good time, but were even more exciting being right up close to the gates. I loved helping the little ones catch rabbits, and watching the older kids diving after pigs and calves! The highlight for me was having so many young kids ask to take a picture with me, I felt famous! That August I had the pleasure of representing Butler County in the Iowa State Fair queen competition. I met so many friendly and accom- plished young women, who were ambitious and inspiring. My days spent in Des Moines with 102 other girls was so much fun! They had so many activities planned for our time there, there SERVING YOUR LIVESTOCK was never a dull moment. I still keep in touch with many of the girls through social media. CONFINEMENT NEEDS ... I also represented Butler County at five different parades, the Christmas party at the Allison Public Library, and sang the National Anthem at car races. I attended the Fair Appreciation From 24/7 emergency service to supper where I shared a speech about my experiences at the Iowa State Fair. A big thank you complete remodels call to my family, Emily Mennenga, my mom and Grandma Jan. Also thank you to Becky Prostine and the queen committee, Allison’s Lions Club, all the people who drove me in parades, and 319-939-8669 the fair board and their families. I still feel so honored that I was chosen as the Butler County Fair Queen, and was able to meet the people and have experiences I had this past year. It has We have a highly experienced been such an exciting year as Fair Queen, and I feel very fortunate to represent Butler County.
