DOES A STUDENT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO ATTEND A CONFERENCE? In order to attend a conference and be protected by Missouri’s General Liability Insurance, a student must be a registered member in the National Database at the time of registration. For CLUE, SMLC, and NFLC, a member does not yet need to be dues paid. However, for DLC, SLC, and NLC, a member must be dues paid by the stated deadline. DO STUDENTS NEED A CHAPERONE OR MAY THEY ATTEND A CONFERENCE ON THEIR OWN? For FBLA and Middle Level, under no circumstances may a member attend a conference without a school official, parent/guardian, or designated adult per the school district. This will require the individual to be registered for the conference (either as an adviser or a guest/chaperone). For PBL members, an adviser is strongly encouraged but not required for any official functions. I REGISTERED A STUDENT WHO CAN NO LONGER ATTEND. MAY I SWITCH THEM WITH A DIFFERENT STUDENT? The change/cancellation deadline for all conferences is at the close of registration. At this point, no changes may be made to registration. However, for CLUE and SMLC, Missouri will still accept name changes submitted via email at least five (5) business days in advance; shirt sizes will not be changed, though. FOR COMPETITIVE EVENT CONFERENCES LIKE DLC, SLC, AND NLC, MAY I BRING ADDITIONAL STUDENTS WHO MAY NOT BE COMPETING? You may bring additional students to these conferences. For SLC and NLC, special activities and workshops may be available for those students to engage in business and leadership. Open testing is also available. For DLC, please contact your District Adviser (DA) for details on activities at DLC before registering. HOW MANY STUDENTS MAY COMPETE IN EACH EVENT AT DLC, SLC, OR NLC? Please review the competitive event tables for your allotted slots at each conference, as well as the number of members/team that advance to each next level. AN EVENT HAS A PREJUDGED OR TEST. IS THIS FACTORED INTO THEIR SCORE OR USED AS A PREREQUISITE? Please review the below table by division to see rules regarding prerequisites and scores.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY MEMBERS PERFORM? Across all divisions and all conferences, the posted schedules alert students if they have advanced to finals, whether from the preliminary round or based on a prerequisite. Schedules are sent via email alerts or posted to the Missouri FBLA-PBL or National FBLA-PBL website. If a student is not listed on the schedule, the student did not advance to finals. IN FBLA, MY STUDENT RECEIVED A WILD CARD AT THE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Missouri FBLA-PBL is pleased to provide Wild Cards as a tool to level the playing field for those students in larger and more competitive FBLA Districts. After all DLCs have concluded, for events with a test, the top 10 members/teams with the highest score who did not qualify at their DLC will advance on to compete at SLC. For example, the Hospitality Management team from the Jean Buckley School receives a 96 on their test, but the team from the Hamden Forkner School place first at DLC based on their combined performance and test score. However, the Jean Buckley School had the highest test score in Missouri. They will, for this reason alone, advance to SLC for another chance to compete. The announcement of Wild Cards will come at the conclusion of the last DLC via email. WHY DO I HAVE TO TELL THE MISSOURI FBLA-PBL STATE OFFICE THAT I AM ATTENDING NLC? Missouri FBLA-PBL is responsible for signing up members for their respective events. Forms are made available to all advisers to alert Missouri of who is competing, as well as any additional advisers or students attending. Without these forms, Missouri cannot register competitors. 8 FBLA COMPETITIVE EVENT GRID
