Use this catalog as a guide in planning your period clothing. For most time periods, we show a work dress, or “house dress.” These would have been worn for everyday by servants, shop girls, and farm wives across America. We also show at least one Sunday gown or “best” dress, which a middle-class woman would save for church, weddings, parties, photos, and special events. Throughout the catalog you will see drawings of hats and bonnets. Each one is individually designed and hand-made; please ask for a bid on a hat to wear with your new clothing. Although we do not show children’s clothing on most of these pages, we can design and make authentic clothing for your young people for any of these time periods. Generally, these prices will be 40% less than the similar adult styles. The prices given are for a semi-custom garment with a dressmaker- quality finish. -

Jun 21, 2018 09:00 BST Rotork completes automation contract to assist decarbonisation at Lynemouth Power Station Rotork has completed a contract to supply fully automated pneumatic control systems on high capacity biomass rail freight wagons supporting the decarbonisation project at Lynemouth Power Station in Northumberland. Rail freight manufacturer Astra Rail/Greenbrier Europe and leasing company Nacco have supplied GB Rail freight with 50 hopper wagons to support the biomass haulage contract awarded by Lynemouth Power Ltd. Each with a payload of 70tonnes, these auto-loading and discharging wagons run in two rakes (coupled groups) of 24 between the Port of Tyne and Lynemouth Power Station, delivering 37,000 tonnes of biomass per week. The Rotork design for auto-loading and discharging enables all controls, hand valves and visual indicators to be located in one place, providing safe and convenient access. Top and bottom hopper doors are operated by a magnetic sensor valve from a line side magnet. The innovative design allows any wagon in the rake to be the arming wagon. The fully automated control system enables quicker loading and unloading, requiring only supervision without manual intervention during operation. The proven design also allows for wagons to be separated and used in other rakes without any further configuration. Lynemouth Power Station has generated electricity since 1972. The plant was originally built and operated by Alcan with the purpose of providing safe and secure energy for the production of aluminium at the adjacent Lynemouth Smelter. -

SOUTHERN STYLE A designer with an eye for high style creates a tailor-made home for a young family. by mary neff stewart photography by tom beck MAY | JUNE 2017 103 104 MAY | JUNE 2017 Clean, crisp spaces with bespoke furnishings and a curated collection of art—these particular details were the requests from Katherine and JR Woodall concerning their new home. Fortunately, the couple knew just where to turn for these high-style incli- nations. For their previous home, the Woodalls relied upon Rivers Spencer, a Jackson native and New Orleans-based interior designer to work her magic. The pair knew that it was her classic Southern style that they desired again. Years ago, as she was polishing her design aesthetic, Rivers hung her shingle on Magazine Street in New Orleans to sell her finds—personally refinished antiques, unique accessories, and carefully selected works of art. The white, double-shotgun house showcasing Rivers’ perfectly tailored style quickly became known as a desti- nation for design lovers in the Crescent City. The studio became the headquarters for Ccreating beautiful and livable spaces for her clients throughout the South. As the Woodalls’ family began to grow, the couple searched for the perfect nest in which to spread their wings. Initially settling on a beautiful expanse of land, they met with Rivers to begin developmental planning on a new build. Able to see and expand upon Katherine’s vision, she helped to outline the establishment of their new home. When foundation issues and unforeseen problems brought the project to a screeching halt, the team regrouped and found a new suitable location. -

We are now reaching the most crucial stage in the process. Soon we will be sending the Core Strategy to the Government and they will appoint an inspector to decide whether it is a sound plan. But before that, you have one final chance to shape what is in the document. Carbon Pricing and Power Sector Decarbonisation: Evidence from the UK Marion Leroutier∗ June 21, 2021 Abstract Decreasing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation is crucial to tackle climate change. Yet, empirically little is known on the effectiveness of economic instru- ments in the power sector. This paper examines the impact of the UK Carbon Price Support (CPS), a carbon tax implemented in the UK power sector in 2013. Compared to a synthetic control unit built from other European countries, emissions from the UK power sector declined by 26 percent on an average year between 2013 and 2017. Bounds on the effects of potential UK confounding policies and several placebo tests suggest that the carbon tax caused at least 80% of this decrease. -

Northumberland Local Plan Publication Draft Plan Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) May 2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Northumberland Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) has been prepared in support of the Northumberland Local Plan. It identifies the likely infrastructure requirements, associated with the Local Plan over the plan period, up to 2036. The IDP is the output of long standing engagement with infrastructure providers to identify current infrastructure capacity, and to determine the likely future infrastructure requirements, associated with sustainable growth in Northumberland. Focussing on strategic infrastructure requirements, the IDP seeks to identify completed, committed, and planned investment across physical, social and green infrastructure types. It is intended to be a key mechanism by which to coordinate the investment and delivery plans of infrastructure providers to best effect. Where possible the IDP identifies where funding for infrastructure will come from. It also identifies where there are funding gaps. The collective funding gap could underpin the potential introduction of a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) in Northumberland. There are no infrastructure requirements which are ‘critical’ to the delivery of the Northumberland Local Plan. However, there are some existing pressures on infrastructure and anticipated future pressures as a result of growth, development, demographic changes and other factors. Notably, necessary infrastructure requirements principally relate to: - mitigation or improvement works for a limited number of junctions on the road network; - the need for additional healthcare services to cater for a growing population; - a limited number of areas where additional school provision is required; - timely provision of works to ensure adequate waste water treatment capacity. Plans, programmes and projects have been identified to address these infrastructure requirements, and a range of other requirements which will help ensure the sustainability of Northumberland’s existing and new communities. -

Braun All Rights Reserved Private Andrew Jackson McDonald, Company "C", 20th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, wearing the Wisconsin State Issue Blouse photo credit With the advent of magazines heavily laced with portrait images of Civil War soldiers, new and amazingly varied Civil War uniforms have come to light. May of these are late-war quazi-zouave modifications, while others reflect circa 1862 state issues. Several states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio, issued what could be termed a "state issue" uniform. That is, these states had either established militia laws and traditions from which uniform regulations were codified, or at least an active Adjutant General's and Quartermaster's offices which could recommend clothing for the state's soldiers. Much of the early state issues were gray uniforms. Wisconsin was no exception, borrowing much of its uniform tradition from a tolerably well developed militia system and the militia regiments of New York State. Indeed, the first eight infantry regiments raised by Wisconsin for the war were clad in either gray frock coats, or modified gray shell jackets modified from the SNY militia pattern. But the early Union fiascos at Bull Run, and elsewhere, in the summer of 1861 demonstrated the need for a standardized Federal uniform throughout the remaining United States. New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio and other states rushed to re-issue its troops with dark-blue kersey jackets, of varying styles and features to suit the whim of the particular state, or Federal regulation frock coats and sack coats.
