AC/DC: Els Anys Amb Brian Johnson It's only rock & roll | Pep Saña | Actualitzat el 27/04/2016 a les 17:29 AC/DC: Els anys amb Brian Johnson. Primer de tot, dir que la idea inicial i que per lògica tenia de ser així, aquest article cronològicament anava desprès del que estava a punt de publicar i que parla dels inicis d' AC/DC amb Bon Scott, ja em disculpareu el canvi d'ordre per començar per la part diguem-ne que final, el proper article serà el que tenia d'anar primer. No es per cap caprici ni preferència personal, senzillament es per pura (i dura) actualitat, i en aquests moments l'actualitat (i fatalitat) de l'univers AC/DC es diu Malcom Young, Phil Rudd i Brian Johnson. La mort de Bon Scott va suposar un cop molt dur per la banda, Angus i Malcolm van pensar en dissoldre el grup, però el pare del Bon els va consolar, animant-los a continuar, ?sou molt joves, acabeu de tenir un èxit mundial, continuar es el millor tribut que podeu rendir al Bon?, per la qual cosa van decidir seguir endavant, trobar un nou cantant i gravar un nou disc. Des d'aleshores la banda va decidir que anualment donaria uns diners a la família de Bon Scott, cosa que a dia d'avui continuen fent. Van fer un càsting de cantants per intentar aconseguir el que semblava impossible, suplir al Bon. Finalment els va convèncer un candidat anomenat Brian Johnson (que tampoc és australià), provenia del grup britànic Geordie, en aquell moment Brian Johnson es trobava sense grup i s'estava pensant si continuar al món de la música, va acceptar el repte i va entrar a AC/DC. Els motius d'aquesta elecció eren evidents, la veu del Brian és completament diferent a la del Bon, així com la seva manera d'actuar sobre l'escenari, AC/DC no volien un duplicat. A Brian Johnson se li podran criticar coses però no precisament d'anar de sobrat, tot el contrari, es un tio simpàtic, proper i senzill. En alguna de les múltiples entrevistes que se li han fet i en la que no deixen de preguntar-li per Bon Scott (mira que son pesats), Brian ho deixa ben clar, ?no vaig entrar a AC/DC per substituir a Bon Scott, vaig entrar perquè Bon havia mort?. És a dir, sempre ha tingut molt clar que, en condicions normals, ell mai hauria arribat a ser el cantant d' AC/DC. No estic gens d'acord amb els fans més puristes que lloen els discos amb Bon Scott pel simple https://www.naciodigital.cat/bergueda/noticia/5663/ac-dc-anys-amb-brian-johnson Pagina 1 de 17 fet de desprestigiar Brian Johnson. Tampoc m'agrada massa parlar d'etapes d'un o d'altre, senzillament és AC/DC i punt. Malauradament Bon Scott va morir, era un frontmant acollonant, cantava de collons i donava la seva personalitat a la banda. Brian Johnson també es un cantant brutal, que ha aportat un registre de veu diferent i un altra carisma a la banda, que no es poca cosa. Ni millor ni pitjor, diferent. L'alternativa era plegar, era aquesta la millor opció per aquests crítics?, rotundament NO. Brian Johnson porta 36 TRENTA-SIS anys amb els germans Young, no fa falta dir res més. Un crític va dir d'AC/DC que havien fet deu discos que sonaven exactament igual, Angus Young va contestar, ?Aquest tio és un puto mentider. Hem fet onze discos que sonen igual?, RE, RE, RE, RE (acord de guitarra). La realitat és que encara que la veu estrident de Johnson suposa un canvi de registre a la banda, és L'ÚNIC canvi de registre que hi ha hagut a la banda. Back In Black (1980) Back In Black, és el millor homenatge que li podien fer a Bon Scott, no hi ha molts músics als quals hagin pogut oferir com a homenatge un disc que és una obra mestra. Gairebé ningú donava un cèntim d'euro per AC/DC abans que publiquessin aquest disc, durant l'enregistrament regnava un ambient de nerviosisme, AC/DC sabien que amb aquest disc s'ho jugaven pràcticament tot i no estaven molt segurs de com reaccionaria el públic amb un altre cantant. El primer de tot era homenatjar al Bon, AC/DC pretenien que la portada de l'àlbum fos completament negra en senyal de dol, fent honor així al títol del disc (tornar de negre). El resultat va ser que els germans Young van facturar una col·lecció de cançons veritablement impressionant, https://www.naciodigital.cat/bergueda/noticia/5663/ac-dc-anys-amb-brian-johnson Pagina 2 de 17 totes inspiradíssimes, que no tenien res que envejar al que havien fet en discos anteriors. Així doncs, els més escèptics que no confiaven que AC/DC sobrevisquessin a Bon Scott van presenciar el miracle, el nou àlbum era una meravella. Semblava gairebé una altra banda, però era igual, Back In Black era total i absolutament demolidor, amb John "Mutt" Lange que repetia a la producció. El públic va respondre molt més que be i AC/DC van aconseguir tornar a explotar a nivell mundial, número u a U.K i número quatre als USA, a més d'entrar al top deu a les llistes de molts països. L'èxit de Back In Black va disparar les vendes de tots els seus àlbums anteriors, desencadenant una febre AC/DC. Aprofitant l'empenta, el disc Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap va ser reeditat al març de 1981 als USA, on no havia estat publicat en el seu primer llançament de 1976 convertint-se en el tercer disc més venut, gairebé cinc anys després d'haver estat publicat. Langue. Va rebre un bon acolliment entre els fans, però no a la crítica En realitat, l'àlbum presenta preocupants baixades de tensió, que es faran dramàtiques com veurem més endavant. Els nous temes no tenen el mateix nivell d'inspiració tot i que tampoc es pot dir que siguin dolents, aconsegueixen el seu primer número u als USA amb el tema homònim que dona nom al disc i amb el que tanquen els concerts, a l'ordre de ?fire? van sonant canonades, i aquí si que definitivament és quan et comencen a xiular les orelles. Encara que les vendes totals no arriben al nivell de Back In Black, la incertesa ha quedat definitivament enrere. Tot i sonant molt diferents al que feien als 70, s'hi troben igualment còmodes i el títol del disc és un homenatge als seus milions de nous fans. Lange com productor, els propis germans Young van ocupar el seu lloc. Alguns crítics pensaven que la banda s'estava començant a repetir, als 70 això no importava perquè el nivell de cada disc era igual o millor que l'anterior. Ara, en canvi, presenten un disc però que fa dubtar que potser no tornin a arribar al nivell de Powerage, Highway To Hell o Back In Black mai més, un disc que sona amb força però que també mostra la tendència de descens d'inspiració en la qual semblen haver entrat durant els 80. Serà l'últim disc en què Phil Rudd gravi la bateria (fins a la seva tornada onze anys desprès) perquè serà acomiadat a causa dels seus conflictes amb Malcolm Young, provocats per l'afició de Rudd a les drogues i l'alcohol, derivats de la no superació de la mort de Bon Scott, l'últim nexe d'unió entre AC/DC i Austràlia es trenca. La crítica es va mostrar despectiva cap a l'àlbum tot i que no va funcionar malament a la llistes, tampoc va ajudar el que mesos abans haguessin publicat material nostàlgic dels 70, el disc ?74 Jailbreak, un EP de 5 temes on rescataven material inèdit dels inicis de Bon Scott, recordant la contagiosa electricitat que desprenien anys enrere, sobretot amb el single Jailbreak.

    Proceedings of the 24th Association of Public Authority Surveyors Conference (APAS2019) Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia, 1-3 April 2019 Let There Be Rock: The AC/DC Phenomenon Volker Janssen APAS Publications Officer [email protected] ABSTRACT In a successful career spanning more than 45 years, AC/DC have persistently ignored trends in popular music and resolutely stuck to their bluesy, stripped-to-the-bone brand of high- voltage rock ’n’ roll. This paper investigates the AC/DC phenomenon by examining song lyrics and connotations, the band’s work rate, and the vocalist debate (Bon Scott vs. Brian Johnson). Furthermore, a group of 82 hardcore fans is examined to get a better understanding of their passion for the band, and it is outlined how the AC/DC brand is increasingly being marketed to a larger consumer base not limited to music lovers. It was found that the word ‘rock’ is by far the most prominent in AC/DC song titles but lyrically almost half of all AC/DC songs revolve around sex. While the frequency of album releases slowed considerably over time, the band generally played 150 live gigs following each studio album. Bon Scott material continues to account for at least 45% of the songs included in typical AC/DC live sets. Analysis of a questionnaire revealed how committed the cohort of hardcore fans is. They generally became serious fans in their early teens, prefer the older material, experienced their first gig during early adulthood and enjoyed up to 124 gigs since. This paper also demonstrates how one can collect, analyse, interpret and present data.
