My music Made by : Sára Ladányi and Eszter Saly AC/DC Guns and Roses Most people like going out at night. They usually go to different nightclubs. This is because they want to meet each other, relax, dance to their favorite music and have fun. The so-called ’night life’ is very popular in the big cities, that includes being with friends, watching shows and being in a good mood. The Rolling Stones Music genres There are so many music genres in the world. Every country has its own folk music. Classical music and opera are also have great past. Nowadays a Capella is coming into vogue again. Jazz, blues, soul and gospel aren’t as popular as they were, but a lot of people still love them these days. We think pop music is immortal, because it is melodic, it has catchy tune and it sounds good for everybody. Its subspecies are disco music in the seventies, the k-pop style in Asia, the hip hop and the rap. They’re all really popular. Electronic music is flourishing now. It is produced with with synthesizers and computers. This music is the combination of hard bass and cadenced rhythm. The youngest and one of the best-known sub genres !1 is the dubstep. There are lighter and harder version of it. The next music genre is rock. Rock n’ roll is formed of blues, jazz, country and gospel. Some of its sub genres: hard rock, heavy metal, punk rock, post-punk rock, jazz rock, alternative rock, indie (independent) rock, rock opera, etc. And that is our joint favorite. Our favorite music We both like rock music, and by common agreement our favorite band is AC/DC. Some of our relatives showed it and we found it catchy, we liked the rhythm and the harmony in the music. We most like their songs called TNT and Back in Black. They are from Australia, they formed in Sydney in ’73. They play hard rock music. Their iconic singer is Brian Johnson, there are three members beside him: Angus Young, Chris Slade and Stevie Young. They are really popular, they have got an own video game. Unfortunately they will retire in a few years. Rock and Popular Music 1960 - 2000 Cultural and Historic Background Information Rock music is a broad genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in the United States in the early 1950s and developed into a range of different styles in the 1960s and later, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. It originates from 1940s and 1950s rock and roll, a style which drew heavily from the genres of blues, rhythm and blues, and from country music. Rock music also drew strongly from several other genres such as electric blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical styles. Musically, rock has centered on the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with electric bass, drums, and one or more singers. Usually, rock is song-based music with a 4/4 time signature using a verse–chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political. At the beginning of the 1960s, pop and rock and roll trends of the 1950s continued; nevertheless, the rock and roll of the decade before started to merge into a more international, eclectic variant. In the early 1960s, rock and roll in its purest form was gradually overtaken by pop rock, psychedelic rock, blues rock, and folk rock, which had grown in popularity. The country and folk influenced style associated with the latter half of 1960s rock music spawned a generation of popular singer songwriters who wrote and performed their own work.

Let There Be Rock: the AC/DC Phenomenon
Proceedings of the 24th Association of Public Authority Surveyors Conference (APAS2019) Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia, 1-3 April 2019 Let There Be Rock: The AC/DC Phenomenon Volker Janssen APAS Publications Officer [email protected] ABSTRACT In a successful career spanning more than 45 years, AC/DC have persistently ignored trends in popular music and resolutely stuck to their bluesy, stripped-to-the-bone brand of high- voltage rock ’n’ roll. This paper investigates the AC/DC phenomenon by examining song lyrics and connotations, the band’s work rate, and the vocalist debate (Bon Scott vs. Brian Johnson). Furthermore, a group of 82 hardcore fans is examined to get a better understanding of their passion for the band, and it is outlined how the AC/DC brand is increasingly being marketed to a larger consumer base not limited to music lovers. It was found that the word ‘rock’ is by far the most prominent in AC/DC song titles but lyrically almost half of all AC/DC songs revolve around sex. While the frequency of album releases slowed considerably over time, the band generally played 150 live gigs following each studio album. Bon Scott material continues to account for at least 45% of the songs included in typical AC/DC live sets. Analysis of a questionnaire revealed how committed the cohort of hardcore fans is. They generally became serious fans in their early teens, prefer the older material, experienced their first gig during early adulthood and enjoyed up to 124 gigs since. This paper also demonstrates how one can collect, analyse, interpret and present data.
