Submitted by Kharli Rose From seeking friendship in stars to comparing bones to souls, Mary Oliver is known for her poetic imagery and earthen descriptions. She gives the wind a feeling and the sea a voice, keeping people in touch with and curious about nature. "Everything she writes just kind of makes you think of the whole uni- verse," said Captiva resident Susan Stuart. "She paints pictures with her words and I don't think anybody else does it in the same way she does." Stuart is excited to hear the acclaimed poet read from her body of work during the Rachel Carson Distinguished Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8. at St. Michael & All Angels Church on Sanibel Island.
