Melia azedarach L. – Persian Lilac, Pride-of-India, African Lilac, Chinaberry, White Cedar, Bead Tree, China Berry (Meliaceae) Persian lilac belongs to the mahogany family, which comprises about 50 genera and 700 species of trees and shrubs native to tropical and sub-tropical regions. Spe- cies of the genera Toona, Swietenia and Entandrophragma are important source of high-quality timbers, traded as mahogany. Persian lilac is a deciduous, monoe- 3-4 cious, entomophilous, ornithochorous tree native to south and southeastern Asia and Australia. It is a fast-growing, short-lived ornamental tree, which can quickly provide dense shade. It is often planted, naturalized or invasive in tropical, sub-tropical and warm temperate regions. Its common name bead tree derives from the hard, ridged stones that were used for making rosaries and necklaces. Extracts of the plant have been used for various medical purposes. It is highly tolerant of GODINA CXLIII heath, drought, and poor soil conditions. In Croatia Persian lilac is often cultivated as an ornamental tree in the Mediterranean region. It has taken a while to prepare the proceedings as usual, but a copy is now enclosed and I hope you find it interesting. None of this work would have been possible without the help of volunteers. would particularly like to thank Dennis Dey and his team of helpers who organised the event, including the excellent lunch, and Harry Montgomery who collated, edited and organised the mailing out of the proceedings. I hope to circulate a copy of the proceedings to everyone who is interested; if you think I may have missed anyone or got a wrong address, please let me know. The document will also be on sale to the general public for £4.00 + p&p. Although there is no charge to recorders, our finances are severely stretched so any donations towards the cost would be greatly appreciated. The date for the next seminar has been set for Saturday, 25th February 1995.

Received: 9 October 2020; Accepted: 28 October 2020; Published: 30 October 2020 Simple Summary: Several wood-associated insects are inadvertently introduced every year within wood-packaging materials used in international trade. These insects can cause impressive economic and ecological damage in the invaded environment. Thus, several countries use traps baited with pheromones and plant volatiles at ports of entry and surrounding natural areas to intercept incoming exotic species soon after their arrival and thereby reduce the likelihood of their establishment. In this study, we investigated the performance of eight trap colors in attracting jewel beetles and bark and ambrosia beetles to test if the trap colors currently used in survey programs worldwide are the most efficient for trapping these potential forest pests. In addition, we tested whether trap colors can be exploited to minimize inadvertent removal of their natural enemies.
