Chair Tina Podlodowski Washington State Democratic Party 615 2Nd Ave #580 Seattle, WA 98104 Tina@Wa-Democrats.Org Chair Tina Podlodowski Washington State Democratic Party 615 2nd Ave #580 Seattle, WA 98104 [email protected] RE: Participation Statement Aloha Chair Podlodowski, Diversity and inclusion are more than just words for our campaign. They’re the hard- and-fast principles guiding how we build our teams, cultivate leaders and create a campaign organization that’s accessible to every person, in every way. We pledge we’ll do everything possible to ensure our potential delegate candidates represent the diversity of your great state. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has a national, multicultural following—and that is reflected in every aspect of her campaign organization. Tulsi2020 Campaign Best Practices for Diversity and Inclusion: • Equal access to opportunity for all • Teamwork and collaboration, with all voices heard • Collaborative conflict resolution processes • Diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization Our campaign has committed to the following steps to encourage full participation in Washington’s delegate selection process. 1. Regular communication and outreach to all supporters and undecided voters (through e-mail, social media, digital media, printed materials, events and/or direct contact) informing them of the process by which they may run for delegate under the current Washington 2020 plan; 2. Encouraging women, minorities, and any other underrepresented groups to participate in the Delegate Selection Process and providing accurate and timely information to facilitate their participation in the process; Tulsi Now, Inc. PO Box 75255, Kapolei, HI 96707 3. Maintaining a consistent, ongoing diversity and inclusion initiative in the organizational culture, messaging, policy and campaign platform across the entire campaign in all States. Summary Increasing political inclusion is a core value for our campaign. Democracy flourishes when all segments of a society are free to participate and influence political outcomes without suffering bias or reprisal. Our campaign strives to increase the participation of all groups so they can have a voice in the political process and achieve a greater level of equality - understanding that political participation is a fundamental means of addressing the social and economic inequities present in our country today. We fully the support the work of the Washington State Democratic Party. Please let us know if there’s anything the Tulsi 2020 campaign can do to support those efforts. Sincerely, Tulsi Gabbard US Congresswoman Candidate for President of the United States Tulsi Now, Inc. PO Box 75255, Kapolei, HI 96707 .

September 13, 2018 Washington State DNC Delegation 615 2nd Ave #580 Seattle, WA 98104 Tina Podlodowski Nancy Monacelli David McDonald Rion Ramirez Ed Cote Juanita Luiz Sharon Mast cc: DNC Chair Tom Perez Dear Washington State DNC Members, Confusion persists over the DNC’s current and planned policy regarding contributions from the fossil fuel industry, including fossil fuel-backed PACs. We are concerned that, absent a clear statement from the DNC about this issue, cynicism will continue to build among Americans nationwide about the Democratic Party’s resolve in the battle against climate change. Resolution 8, adopted at the Chicago meeting of the DNC last month, contains important statements about climate change, but it does not contain any language clarifying the DNC’s openness to accepting fossil fuel money. We write now to call on the DNC Executive Committee to finish what they started in June and reinstate the ban prior to the November midterm elections. We seek your leadership toward a clear statement that the Democratic National Committee rejects corporate PAC contributions from the fossil fuel industry that conflict with our DNC Platform. We hope this statement will be forthcoming within the next four weeks, before ballots drop in Washington State. Attached you will find a resolution to this effect, which we are bringing to the upcoming WSDCC meeting in Spokane. Thank you for your consideration of our request on this critical issue. The Environmental and Climate Caucus looks forward to working with you and the rest of the DNC to take action on the climate crisis. Sincerely, The Environment and Climate Caucus of the Washington State Democratic Central Committee Steve Verhey, Chair; WSDCC Member, 13th LD Mathew Tomaskin, Eastern WA Vice Chair; WSDCC Member, 14th LD Arvia Morris, Western WA Vice Chair Becky Chaney, Secretary John Stafford, Treasurer Teresa Catford, Technology Officer Anne Udaloy, Membership Chair Scott Alspach, Outreach Committee Chair Shaun Olsen, Parliamentarian; WSDCC Member, 21st LD Amy Madden, At-Large Pos.
