In May, you had the Presidential Primary, and now here we are again mailing in July for the August primary for all the rest of the candidates! And are there a lot of candidates! After the last statewide primary election where there were many candidates to choose from and the state does not publish a hard copy Local Voters’ Pamphlet, we decided and the Council supported funding to publish a comprehensive pamphlet so you’d have an opportunity to review all the information on these races. That’s why this year’s pamphlet is so much bigger. I hope you will find it informative. As we’ve said before, the primary really is an important election because it is where you select who gets to move on to the general election. I know it sounds cliché—but every vote does matter, and this is where it shows! We are encouraging the use of the official ballot drop boxes where you can leave your ballot, no postage necessary and where no one except Whatcom County election workers are handling your ballot. See the listing in this pamphlet or in your ballot materials where the closest box is for you. If you choose to use the postal service, mail early. It’s recommended to mail by Friday, July 29 in order to get a timely postmark. Please return your ballot at your earliest convenience. Happy voting and I hope you’re having a great summer!
