Respondent Name Timothy Eyman Complainant Name Elliott Harvey Complaint Description Grace reported via the portal (Tue, 4 Aug 2020 at 2:36 PM) Both Tim Eyman and his political campaign Governor Tim Eyman for WA State (“Eyman Campaign”) has fraudulently misrepresented campaign authority on behalf of the Committee to Recall Jenny Durkan (“Recall Durkan.”) Fraudulent misrepresentation of campaign authority can be seen demonstrated on the Eyman Campaign website (tim4gov.com) dated Jul 23, 2020, as well as in multiple recorded interviews given by Mr. Eyman and in other media both internal and external to the Eyman Campaign. Mr. Eyman claims on many occasions to have personally, and through his campaign, “launched” Recall Durkan. Mr. Eyman additionally visibly demonstrates on camera collecting signatures on altered petitions and fraudulently solicits campaign contributions under the guise of supporting the Recall Durkan effort. The Eyman Campaign has at no point contacted Recall Durkan for copyright permissions, permission for use of name or likeness of petitioners, or made any attempt to volunteer for the recall petition effort, and has therefore not been granted permission in ANY way to affiliate with or represent Recall Durkan. The Eyman Campaign has additionally failed to register any committee with the PDC to report contributions received for their supposed recall campaign. Leahy Senator Roy Blunt Senator Amy Klobuchar Dear Senators: As Secretaries of State of both major political parties who oversee the election systems of our respective states, we write in strong support of additional federal funding to enable the smooth and safe administration of elections in 2020. The stakes are high. And time is short. The COVID-19 pandemic is testing our democracy. A number of states have faced challenges during recent primary elections. Local administrators were sometimes overwhelmed by logistical problems such as huge volumes of last-minute absentee ballot applications, unexpected shortages of poll workers, and difficulty of procuring and distributing supplies. As we anticipate significantly higher voter turnout in the November General Election, we believe those kinds of problems could be even larger. The challenge we face is to ensure that voters and our election workers can safely participate in the election process. While none of us knows what the world will look like on November 3rd, the most responsible posture is to hope for the best and plan for the worst. The plans in each of our states depend on adequate resources. While we are truly grateful for the resources that Congress made available in the CARES Act for election administration, more funding is critical. Current funding levels help to offset, but do not cover, the unexpectedly high costs that state and local governments face in trying to administer safe and secure elections this year. -

Compounding these critical issues is the racial discrimination that pervades the U.S. voting system and silences the voices of the communities that are most affected. In several primary elections across the country, there has been a breakdown in election processes—including closed polling places, mail ballot voting hurdles, and malfunctioning voting equipment—causing outsize harm to African American communities. It is important for elected officials to ensure that every American can fully exercise their constitutional right to vote, especially during a pivotal election year. Secretaries of state, although perhaps not the most well-known public officials, serve as the gatekeepers of free and fair elections across the United States. As the top election administrators in most states, they face unprecedented hurdles to running safe elections during a pandemic, on top of their responsibility to ensure that elec- tions are inclusive and accessible. The decisions that secretaries of state make can help determine whether every eligible American can vote and play a meaningful role in transforming the United States into a more just society. -

We offer this comprehensive guide as a reference to help you find information on the candidates and statewide measures that appear on your ballot. This general election gives you the opportunity to have a say in our government at the local, state, and national levels, and to choose who will serve as our nation’s next president. In order to have your voice heard, you must be registered to vote. Voter registration forms that are mailed or completed online must be received by October 26, and we encourage you to check your registration information today at VoteWA.gov. If you are reading this message after October 26 and you are not registered, have moved since the last time you voted, or did not receive a ballot, you can go to your local elections office or voting center during regular business hours through 8 p.m. on Election Day to register to vote and receive a ballot. Once you have completed your ballot, you can send it via U.S. mail — no postage needed — but remember, all ballots must be postmarked by November 3. A late postmark could disqualify your ballot. The USPS recommends that you mail a week before Election Day. -

Primary Local Voters’ Pamphlet – August 7, 2018 Dear Voter: This year we are happy to tell you of three changes we think will make voting even easier for you. 1: The Pamphlet is mailed earlier: Around July 20, 2018, you should receive your ballot for the August 7 Primary. We mailed this Local Voters’ Pamphlet in advance of that date to give you time to read the candidate statements well before you vote. That extra time is especially important during the summer months, when many of us have travel plans. 2: Convenient locations: We now have ballot drop boxes in every corner of the county. Ballot drop boxes allow voters to easily return ballots in secure locations dedicated to elections. Ballots are retrieved by elections workers hired by the county and returned directly to the Auditor’s Office. This year we will have 22 drop boxes, an increase of 15 in just three years. To find the location closest to you, refer to the list on page 3 of this pamphlet. 3: Free postage: If you prefer mailing your ballot, this year you don’t have to put a stamp on the envelope. Thanks to funding provided by the state for this year’s elections, voters in all 39 counties will be able to return their ballots without paying for postage. Because Washington is a Top 2 Primary state, your vote will help decide which two candidates in each race will appear on the November ballot.
