Practical information for the Second HELCOM Green Team Meeting 17 May in Turku, Finland
Welcome to the second HELCOM Green Team Meeting to Turku! Please find below some practical information concerning the Meeting.

The museum’s landmark is the white museum ship Suomen Joutsen, which can be seen from far. The Forum Marinum Maritime Centre stands beside the River Aura, close to Turku Castle and the city’s harbour.
Forum Marinum’s main facade faces the River Aura, but there is also an entrance from the street Linnankatu side. See our location from Turku map service. It is easy to get to the Forum Marinum on foot, by car or on public transport
On foot
The pedestrian route to the Forum Marinum follows the scenic river path along the banks of the Aura.
The distance from the Market Square to the Maritime centre is about 2.5 kilometres. The route along the Aura is simple: walk along Läntinen Rantakatu until you arrive at the Suomen Joutsen.
By car
There is parking space for both cars and buses in the yard of the museum. Please note that parking only with a parking disc!
When driving from the centre of Turku, follow the signs for the harbour. Forum Marinum is located on the river side of the street Linnankatu, shortly before Turku Castle. The entrance to the yard is at the castle end of the area.
By public transport
Turku Public Transport’s bus number 1 runs between the airport and the harbour. The Turku bus station is also located along the route. The bus stops at the Market Square and continues towards the harbour. The Form Marinum bus stop is located shortly before the museum, and before the Turku Castle stop.

Another option is to take the train to the Turku harbour, and walk the short distance from there.
Bus ticket costs 3 € (can be purchased in the bus). A taxi can be called from the number +358 2 10041. The ride from the city centre costs about 15 €.

HOW TO REACH TURKU
TRANSPORT Both domestic and international travel connections to Turku are good. Turku is located on the southwest coast of Finland some 170 km from Helsinki, capital of the country.
BY AIR
There are several airlines operating directly to Turku. The airport is about eight kilometers from the city centre which can be reached by taxi (approximately 20€) or by local bus (3€). Please see this link for the flight connections in Turku airport. Most of international airlines fly to Helsinki- Vantaa, see below how to arrive to Turku from Helsinki.
BY BUS
In addition, you can reach Turku with a bus from Helsinki. There are long distance bus connections leaving approximately every hour from Helsinki to Turku and the traveling time between Helsinki-Vantaa airport and the Turku bus station is about two and a half hours.

BY TRAIN
The national train company VR departs from the local railway stations all throughout Finland. There are two railway stations in Turku: The main railway station (rautatieasema) which is at the city centre and the Kupittaa railway station which is about 1.5 kilometers from the city centre. https://www.vr.fi/cs/vr/en/frontpage

All reservations should be made using the reservation code HELCOM before 24.4.2018. After this date, the rooms will be automatically released back to the hotel sales. An individual reservation can be cancelled without any cancellation fees by 6pm on the date of arrival. The hotel requires credit card details for guarantee if the arrival is after 6pm.

Navigate, organized every two years, will feature topics such as maritime industry, maritime logistics and shipping. In 2016, the expo was attended by close to 200 exhibitors and 1,500 visitors, and participants from 8 countries took part in the matchmaking event. A networking event is arranged for exhibitors and expo visitors in Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova on 16th of May 19.30. Dinner cards are now available, can be purchased from the registration link.
The event is an important meeting place that offers participants the opportunity to network and create new contacts and reinforce existing ones. The programme will feature themes that are currently the industry’s hottest topics.
