When Michael Castelli is charged with murder for the second time, his family comes together to rally behind him. Collins spins a story that whirls us through the lives of a number of different characters spread out through New York, California and Nevada. We learn about each character from a slightly different perspective and by the end of the story, they have all been connected with one another. Th Family secrets and revenge can rip a family apart, especially when it's a secret involving murder. The story starts in the present day with a beautiful and brilliant journalist named Madison Castelli being held captive in a coffee shop when three armed robbers take the shop by force. Madison does her best to keep the situation from spinning out of control, but it soon becomes clear that the robbery has something to do with her past. As the situation turns from bad to volatile, we start learning about the other people in Madison's life. Madison's father, Michael, is a primary character in the novel, and the story of his life and how Madison's mother is murdered is eventually revealed. We also learn about Michael's 'other' family and how they come to play a role in Madison's already confusing life. A masterful storyteller, Jackie Collins can always be counted on to deliver a fast-paced and action packed story that always involves sex, lust and scandal. I've read better books by Collins, which is why I'm only giving Deadly Embrace three stars. I found all the storylines a little confusing and I would've liked to see her spend a bit more time on certain characters. Madison Castelli is the main character, a strong will beautiful journalist for Madhattan Style, in the book she goes through a robbery conflict at a local coffee shop with two of her friends. There are about three gun men holding up the coffee shop and threatening to kill everyone inside, Madison as the strong will person she is, tries to keep everyone calm and try to her best ability to get the gun men what they want so they will leave. While this is all happening there are flashbacks to Madisons dad ,Michael, life when he was growing up, to showcase how he is the man he is and to reveal the long events leading up to Madisons "Mom" murder, of which Michael is being accused of. Not only dos the book show Michaels history but also his mistresses past as well. Dani is a girl Michael met on his job in Las Vegas, he instantly felt an attraction to her along with an overwhelming amount of feelings. He tried his hardest to get at her and, he did, that one faithful night with her ended in love forming. Michael had to leave as soon as possible but he delayed it for Dani, the delay didn't suit his boss, the high power mafia man Giovanni. So on his return he was told that he may never do a job in Las Vegas because of that delay. Dani never heard from Michael since then and she had a resentment for that I bought this book nearly few year ago but prolong reading it, mainly because the font size that was used, way too small. You would think in the begining its just about as girl whose going through a terrifying situation, but little did we know there was more to it than that.
