As individuals and families, we are facing the specter of critical illness, cerlain economic hardship, and the massive disruption of our daily lives. The Church is no stranger to adversity, suffering, or privation. in times of difficulty, she has always raised her voice in prayer and earnest supplication, confident that God will hear our every prayer and answer all our pleas. Down through the centuries, the Blessed Mother has played a vitally important role in times of trial, coming to us as a tender Mother, a tireless advocate, steadfast Intercessor, and cherished friend, She has visited her people under the familiar titles of Virgin of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Antipolo, and Our Lady of La Vang. She is beloved in Poland as Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Ireland as Our Lady of Knock, and in Japan as Our Lady of Akita. Mary is revered by the people in Bosnia-Herzegovina as Our Lady of Medugorje, and in Spain, she is treasured as Our Lady of the Pillar. Mary is known in France as Our Lady of Lourdes, and in Portugal as Our Lady of Fatima. On May L3, 1846, the Bishops of the United States unanimously chose the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Patroness of our Nation. One must recite the Rosary every day, and also the Rosary of the Seven PRESIDENT’S Sorrows of Mary, to obtain the favor of repentance.” In his decree on the apparitions COLUMN issued on June 29th, 2001, Bishop Augustin Misago By Bruce G. of Gikongoro, Rwanda, in part states: “It was the visionary Marie Claire Mukangango who brought it back again as she received the mission to teach the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows by the Blessed Virgin Unity of Hearts Devotion Mary of Kibeho. After an intensive research the ad “You must contemplate the Heart of My Mother, as hoc commissions have still not found any evidence you contemplate My own; live in that Heart as you that Marie Claire knew this rosary before the wish to live in Mine; give yourself to that Heart as you beginning of the apparitions. This rosary deserves to give yourself to Mine; spread the love of Her Heart be renewed and spread in the Church. However, this which is wholly united to Mine.” – Jesus, to Venerable prayer does not replace the Holy Rosary. It is one Bertha Petit, Franciscan Tertiary and Belgian mystic, among many exercises of piety admitted in the February 7, 1910 Church.” Known under the title of Our Lady of Kibeho, this apparition has worldwide approval of Dear Calix Family, the Church. Father God My Petal, I, your Father God, I am here to converse with you. I came to relay a message, message of my love and consternação1, consternation, about my Son Jesus’ Second Coming, End of Times. I need my people to absorb in their hearts these, my messages, and [those] of my Son Jesus Christ and our Blessed Virgin Mary. We have been giving many messages to my humble servant, to my Son Jesus’ messengers and to Blessed Virgin Mary’s visionaries. Here in heaven, we do see all, but you, my people, don’t take it seriously into your hearts and minds, saying “This has been said many years before, even my grandparents’ times.” Oh, it’s the same [reason] why Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to her visionaries many decades before. Our Lady of La Salette came to warn about many disasters, famine etc., Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Medjugorje, of Fatima and many more around the world, also Our Lady of Kibeho, Rwanda, and many more apparitions.

However, over the decades, the Shrine has also been home to some individuals who, after their deaths and a long process of investigation, have been give formal, ecclesial recognition as saints—or are on the official “path” to sainthood. Philadelphia-native St. Katherine Drexel (1858-1955) was born a wealthy heiress, yet she gave herself and her inheritance to God by founding the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, which provided services to Native Americans and African Americans. St. Katherine also founded St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Germantown and asked the Vincentians to serve there as pastors and parochial vicars. (The parish has since merged with St. Vincent de Paul Parish.) By the time of her death, St. Katherine’s ministries had more than 500 sisters teaching in 63 schools throughout the country and 50 missions for Native Americans in 16 different states. She was canonized on October 1, 2000, by Pope John Paul II. By all accounts, St. Katherine Drexel and students from her school were regular attendees of the Monday Perpetual Novena at the Shrine. She would sit in the third- pew nearest the main shrine to Our Lady. Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (1895-1979) was an American archbishop known for preaching on his Emmy Award® winning television show, Life is Worth Living, which reached an audience of millions.
