Mycosphere 8(2), 521–532, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/8/2/3. Abstract A new species of Lasiodiplodia (L. chinensis) is described and illustrated from several hosts collected from Hainan and Shandong Province in China. Both sexual and asexual states of L. chinensis were observed, which is characterized by its broadly clavate to clavate asci, fusiform, hyaline and aseptate ascospores, and initially hyaline, aseptate, ovoid to ellipsoid conidia that become pigmented and 1–2-septate with longitudinal striations when mature. Phylogenetically, L. chinensis is closely related to L. pseudotheobromae, L. sterculiae and L. lignicola. Morphological comparisons of these four species lead to the conclusion that the collected taxon is new to science Key words – Botryosphaeriaceae – phylogeny – sexual morph – taxonomy Introduction Lasiodiplodia was formally introduced by Clendenin, (1896), and typified by L. theobromae (Phillips et al. 2013). Species of Lasiodiplodia are mostly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions where they can cause cankers, die-back, fruit or root rot, branch blight or discoloration on a wide range of woody hosts (Punithalingam 1980, Ismail et al. 2012, Phillips et al. -
China and the Law of the Sea: an Update
IV China and the Law of the Sea: An Update Guifang Xue* Introduction his article examines the practice of the People's Republic of China with re Tspect to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea {1982 LOS Convention),l Two principal areas will be assessed: China's efforts to accom modate the challenges of the Convention to its ocean domain as a coastal State and its major maritime legislation to implement the Convention regime. The analysis begins with a brief introduction of China's maritime features and a review of its basic stance toward the Convention. This is followed by a discussion of the major challenges China encountered while establishing its ocean domain based on the Convention regime. China's efforts in implementing the 1982 LOS Convention through national legislation are examined to assess the consistency of that statu tory framework with Convention requirements. Finally, conclusions are drawn from China's law of the sea practice. It is shown that China, fo r its part, has been accelerating domestic procedures with a view to enabling it to comply with Con vention requi rements. However, China's maritime practice has not been wholly consistent with Convention provisions. At the same time, China's oceans policy adjustments indicate a move away from its previous position as solely a coastal .. The thymus contents of IL-1, IL-2, TGF-β1, IFN-γ, GH and HSP70 were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The results showed that: (1) IL-1 and TGF-β1 I College of Life Sciences, Hainan Normal University, Haikou 571158, China contents of HS group were significantly lower than those of the CK group (p<0.05), and those of the GABA+HS group were significantly higher relative to the HS group (p<0.05); (2) IL-2 and IFN-γ contents of the HS group were significantly higher than those of the CK group (p<0.05), and those of the GABA+HS group were significantly lower relative to the HS group (p<0.05);(3) the thymus GH content of all three groups first increased and then decreased. The expression levels GH of the HS and GABA+HS groups were significantly lower than CK group (p<0.05); and (4) HSP70 expression levels in the thymus were significantly higher in the HS and GABA+HS groups relative to the CK group (p<0.05). -

Initial Exploration of a Protection System for Historical and Cultural Towns and Villages in Hainan, China
Structural Studies, Repairs and Maintenance of Heritage Architecture XV 297 INITIAL EXPLORATION OF A PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL TOWNS AND VILLAGES IN HAINAN, CHINA WANG ZHENYU Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China ABSTRACT The long course of Chinese national history runs from a remote source. Since China has a vast territory, different regions formed a variety of regional cultures with different natural environments and era evolutions. Historical and cultural towns and villages not only exist as individual entities, but also as integrated urban and rural settlements and regional cultures. This paper presents the methodologies for the protection of historical towns and villages in the phase of systematic planning in Hainan Province. The research begin with looking at Hainan’s regional culture, adopting the research method of anthropology and regional heritage to retrace the culture of Hainan’s towns and villages, analysing the status quo, and on this basis, building a framework of Hainan historical towns and villages in promotion of its rational protection and development. Keywords: historical and cultural towns and villages, land use, Meso-scale space unit, non-motor- vehicle travel. 1 INTRODUCTION Hainan is a tropical island in southern China with beautiful scenery; its special natural environment has created an exotic culture. Today, most people see Hainan as an international scenic spot; however, less attention is paid to Hainan’s culture and traditions, which, to some extent, results in a lack of cultural construction. Historical and cultural villages and towns are important space carriers of Hainan culture; therefore, the construction of provincial-level historical and cultural towns and villages to protect the historical and cultural heritage of Hainan is essential. -

Haikou Is a Tropical Coastal City, Situated on the Northern Coast of Hainan, by the Mouth of the Nandu River
Haikou is a tropical coastal city, situated on the northern coast of Hainan, by the mouth of the Nandu River. The northern part of the city is Haidian Island, which is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River, a branch of the Nandu. Haikou was originally a port city. Today, it’s the capital of Hainan province and the most populous city in the province. The city covers 2,280 square kilometers and is home to around 2 million inhabitants. Haikou is on the northern edge of the torrid zone, and is part of the inter-tropical Convergence Zone. April to October is the active period for tropical storms and typhoons, most of which occur between August and September. May to October is the rainy season with the heaviest rainfall occurring in September. Despite its location, the city has a humid subtropical climate, falling just short of a tropical climate, with strong monsoonal influences. Nevertheless, the area has hot summers and warm winters, usually with high humidity. Extremes temperatures have ranged from 2.8 to 39.6 °C (37 to 103 °F) From June to October torrential rains may occur, with 7.0 days annually receiving at least 50 mm (1.97 in) of rain; this period accounts for nearly 70 percent of the annual rainfall of 1,650 mm (65 in). With monthly percentage of possible sunshine ranging from 31% in February to 61% in July, the city receives 2,070 hours of bright sunshine annually. Haikou is a transport hub with flights to many cities and boats to nearby mainland cities such as Beihai and Zhanjiang. -
