Claire Folger began her career by shooting mostly bands in Boston, and ran in the same circle as Brad Anderson and Lyn Vaus, who were making their first feature film. A little movie called The Darien Gap that went on to premier at Sundance, and win the best Director award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in 1996. This was one of the first projects that Claire brought to Colortek. After that Claire shot stills on Brad’s next film: Next Stop Wonderland... and then Session 9, when she joined the Cinematographers Guild (2001).

Since then she has moved on almost exclusively to film work, doing headshots for actors and shooting behind-the-scenes stills on films such as 20th Century Fox’s Bride Wars, Buena Vista (Disney’s) Gone Baby Gone and USA Films’ Session 9. Claire’s TV credits include 2 seasons of Showtime’s Brotherhood, as well as various network pilots.

Claire’s photos can be seen in publications that review or promote feature films such as Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter. Recently, one of her photos appeared in the 2009 Shooting Gallery feature in the International Cinematographers Guild Magazine spotlighting the work of various Union photographers.

They also just finished Season 1 of Body of Proof for ABC Television. This show is about a medical examiner, was shot in Rhode Island, and is scheduled to premier on ABC in the Spring.

Recently, Claire’s photo from The Bride Wars was selected by jurors Alison Nordstrom (Curator of Photographs) and Caroline Frick Page (Curator of Motion Pictures) of the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, to appear along with the work of other East Coast Union Still Photographers, in The Talent Show, which opened in November at the Union Offices in New York. This show’s theme was photos of “Talent”, film lingo referring to the principal actors in a production.
