Dear Members,

On behalf of the Management and Membership Committee of the South Riding Golf Club, we would like to welcome you to the 2012 golf season.

We would like to start off by thanking the membership for several reasons. We noticed a spike in tournament participation last year: both member events and the events also open to non- members. Secondly, we received a great number of responses to the survey sent out to members during the winter. Remember to use your free guest round, or free cart fee if you completed a survey. We thank you for your support of tournament golf and our survey.

The Committee has met several times this year to go over many things, including the results of the survey. We have noticed that many members responded that they want our events and tournaments to be fair for all. To achieve this, members want the Committee to ‘police’ the handicaps of all members at our club more vigorously. We are looking into ways to do this.

We have developed a very fun-filled tournament calendar this year. All the member tournaments you have grown to love (or hate – depending on previous year’s results) will be back and we have several fun tournaments that are open to the members, players pass holders and the public. These are fun events that allow for friendly competition amongst the members as most events have two-player team competition formats. We encourage everyone to review the contents of this program, sign up for as many tournaments as possible and get your money’s worth at the club this year.

We have two new members joining the Membership Committee this year. Lee Fields and Dave Smith join Bill Denfeld, Tom Dunaway and Chris Warfield to form the member component of the Committee. The Professional staff component of the Committee is made up of Willy Lutz, PGA, Chadwick Jones, Brian Shiflett and Joshua Chambers. Willy, Chadwick and Brian have been key players in our discussions regarding the upcoming season. Additionally, Joshua has attended the meetings representing the Food and Beverage Team to provide insight on special tournament food offerings and everyday fare throughout the year.

We are extremely excited about 2012. The warm “winter” weather has allowed the Club to get off to a fast start and playing conditions are approaching midseason form. The St. Patrick’s Day Scramble had a record number of participants, the Masters Scramble was heavily attended as well, and the South Riding A-Team played a great regular season and advanced to the playoffs for the first time in several years. This is a great start to what is likely to be a very successful year for the members and the Club.

We encourage you to read the entire golf program and note those events in which you may be interested. Also please take the time to read the South Riding Golf Club Newsletter each month, as it is full of up-to-date information and can easily be viewed in the Members section of our website. Follow the Club and get daily updates on our Facebook page. If you have any questions, the Professional Staff and/or the members of the Committee are always at your service.

Thanks, Chris Warfield Chairman, South Riding Golf Club Membership Committee

Willy Lutz, PGA General Manager, Head Golf Professional

The South Riding Golf Club Membership Committee

The function of the South Riding Golf Club Membership Committee is to promote good fellowship and sportsmanship among members and to encourage active participation in events at the South Riding Golf Club. The Membership Committee serves Club members by providing member input to Club management on policies and operations. The Committee also administrates the handicap system of the Club and arbitrates handicap and rules issues.

The Membership Committee is made up of five (5) member positions and four (4) representatives from the South Riding Golf Club management team. All member positions are filled by members in good standing appointed by the General Manager of the Club. The 2012 Committee serves a term of one year, effective from January 1st through December 31, 2012. The Committee holds regular (closed) meetings to address golf and Club related matters. The Membership Committee will hold one meeting during the golf season that will be open to all South Riding Golf Club members in good standing. This meeting will be used to provide the status of completed activities and events, and to communicate information on key upcoming events. The South Riding Golf Club staff will participate in the meeting to provide status on Club activities and course maintenance. Finally, time will be allowed for Q&A between members, the Membership Committee and Management team. The date and time of this meeting will be announced later in the golf season.

The member participants on the Membership Committee consider their liaison role to the Club as vital. These members are available to address any general questions brought to them by the membership at large. Members concerns, on a confidential basis, can be brought to any member of the Committee and will be forwarded as necessary to the management staff for consideration.

The grass area in front of the synthetic turf area will be available at the discretion of the course superintendent or his designated representative based upon weather conditions and/or maintenance requirements. The near the lower chipping/pitching area is for instructional use only under the supervision of a Golf Professional. All golfers using the driving range are subject to the posted rules of the day.

Pace of Play

An appropriate pace of play must be maintained in order for all members and guests to enjoy their round of golf. A round of golf at South Riding Golf Club should be completed in 4 hours and 15 minutes. The Club employs a GPS system in all golf carts to monitor and assist in the pace of play. Please comply with all messages and requests received from the Professional Staff on the GPS system.

The following information outlines the SRGC pace of play enforcement procedures to help your group and the golf course maintain acceptable pace of play:

A group that falls out of position and is restricting the pace of play will be instructed through the GPS system to improve their pace.

A Golf Professional will deliver a second warning if the group continues to lag behind proper pace. The group will be asked to skip at least one hole.

If a third warning is necessary, the group will be asked to leave the golf course and will receive rain-checks for the remainder of their round.

This policy will be enforced for both Members and the general public.

5

At the Turn

It is important to keep your pace of play and maintain your position when stopping at the turn. During the golf season, weather permitting, we will provide a food and beverage cart on the golf course to better serve you and to ensure a more enjoyable golfing experience.

At other times, you are asked to please take advantage of the menu service on the Prolink System in each golf cart for any items that are not “grab and go”. If you would like lunch, please order through the Prolink system when you reach the 9th tee. When you pick up the order at the turn, please take all food with you and continue play. If you choose to stop for lunch or take more than 7 minutes to “grab and go”, your group forfeits its position and must check with the golf shop or starter before resuming play. Your group will be permitted to resume play when the starter finds a spot.

Cart Policy

Members and guests are required to pay for a golf cart on weekends and holidays before seasonal twilight hours. General cart guidelines are as follows:

• All carts are subject to the posted rules. • The golf cart driver is responsible for physical damage to golf carts in their possession. • Daily cart rules are posted on signs on the 1st and 10th . • Daily cart rules will be made by the Golf Course Superintendent and will be administered by the Golf Professional Staff. • No one under the age of eighteen (18) or without a valid driver’s license is allowed to rent a golf cart. • All carts must remain on the cart path within 50 yards from each green and tee. • Carts must remain on the path at all times on all 3 holes. • Golf Carts may only be occupied with a maximum of two players. • Cart fees are mandatory before 2:00pm on Weekends and Holidays between April 2nd and November 12th. • Cart fees are mandatory before 12:00pm on Weekends and Holidays between November 13th and March 30, 2013. • Failure to adhere to daily cart policies and restriction will result in loss of cart privileges and/ or suspension of Membership. • Carts must be returned to the lower level of the clubhouse, adjacent to the practice putting green, in the designated area at the conclusion of play. • Handicap flags will be issued when possible at the discretion of the course superintendent. DMV-issued handicap plates or temporary placard are required. Doctors notes will be accepted for temporary flag need situations.

Golf Course Care

Handicap Information

As a dues-paying member at the South Riding Golf Club, you are entitled to maintain a handicap at the Club at no additional fee. In addition, you are entitled to participate in member events and tournaments. (Certain eligibility requirements may and do come into play, and these are listed below).

Event Eligibility

The Membership Committee will oversee the golf-related eligibility rules by using the following standards.

1. A member must have a valid USGA Handicap Index maintained at South Riding Golf Club in order to participate in any South Riding Golf Club events that require a handicap.

2. A new South Riding Golf Club member who does not have a valid USGA Handicap Index may participate in a Club event (with the approval of the Membership Committee) by obtaining a temporary handicap from the Committee. The method of determining this temporary handicap index may include (1) contact with the player’s former club, and/or (2) a personal interview with the player, and/or (3) anecdotal evidence, and/or (4) other methods deemed appropriate by the Committee.

3. To maintain eligibility, a player must follow all of the rules of posting scores (see “Members’ Responsibilities” section, following) for handicap purposes as prescribed by the Membership Committee.

4. If a player does not meet this eligibility criteria, the player may appeal to the Membership Committee for eligibility, citing whatever extraordinary circumstances (e.g. injury) exist which made him/her incapable of fulfilling the playing/posting requirements. The final decision of whether to waive the eligibility requirements and/or assign the player a handicap for the event rests with the Membership Committee.

Members’ Responsibilities

Each member has primary responsibility for maintaining his or her golf handicap. It is important that each member become familiar with the guidelines and obligations of keeping a handicap.

In order to participate in South Riding Golf Club, Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) or Golf Association (USGA) tournaments or events, a member must obtain and maintain a valid USGA Handicap Index. A valid Index is maintained by posting all eligible scores on the handicap computer located in the South Riding Golf Club clubhouse or the computer at any golf club that is part of the Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) handicap network. Players may also post scores via the Internet through the GHIN website, www.ghin.com. (Please contact the South Riding Golf Club staff for details on how to post scores through the Internet).

8

A member must post a minimum of five (5) 18-hole scores in order to generate an official Handicap Index. If a new member wishes to participate in a South Riding Golf Club tournament or event before having an official Handicap Index, that member is required to meet with the Membership Committee and/or the Professional staff so that they may assign a temporary handicap that is fair to everyone competing. Beginning in 2010, the VSGA mandated that the golf season in Virginia is year-round, requiring members to post their eligible scores throughout the year.

The following guidelines must be adhered to by each member who wishes to maintain a valid Handicap Index.

• The member must post all scores that are shot in accordance with the Rules of Golf. Examples of rounds that are not valid for handicap purposes include: 1) captain’s choice (scramble) team scores and 2) any round in which the member does not play his/her own ball completely and exclusively. Playing a “practice” round is not a reason for failing to post a score.

• Nine-hole scores must be posted. The GHIN system will save a nine-hole score and combine it with the next nine-hole score entered to make an 18-hole score. The two nine- hole rounds may be on the same side. The GHIN system will compute the proper rating/slope.

• The member must verify the tees played every time a score is entered. The blue tees might be played 95% of the time, but when the gold, green or white tees are occasionally played, the member must remember to indicate this at the time the score from those tees is posted.

• If between 7 and 12 holes are played, a nine-hole score must be posted. If 13 holes or more are played, an 18-hole score must be posted. To “fill out” the holes not played, the member should give himself a ‘net par’ on each hole – a gross par plus any handicap stroke(s) normally received on that hole.

• Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) must be applied to a score prior to posting it in the GHIN system. ESC is a process which keeps a handicap from being artificially inflated based on one or more abnormally bad holes during a round. Information on ESC can be found in a notebook near the handicap computer, on the GHIN.com web site or from a member of the Club Professional Staff.

• There is a special designation for “tournament” scores in the handicapping system. A member who participates in a South Riding Golf Club tournament or event must specify his round (if eligible) as a tournament round when posting that score (the GHIN system will prompt for this information).

9

Review and Adjustment Procedures

If, whether based upon Membership Committee review or a report from another member, the accuracy of a member’s Handicap Index is brought into question, the Committee will initiate the following procedures.

• The member whose handicap is in question will be notified by letter, e-mail or phone call that a review is being initiated.

• The Committee will review the member’s regular scores, tournament scores, and thoroughness in posting all scores. If the review was initiated by a report from another member, that member will be asked to explain the basis for his/her report.

• The player whose handicap is in question will have an opportunity to speak with the Committee and address any issues. The player may choose to waive this opportunity.

• The Committee will make a determination as to whether a manual adjustment to the player’s Handicap Index is warranted based on their investigation. A suggested formula for adjustment can be found in the USGA Handicap Manual, Section 10-3.

• The Membership Committee will notify the affected member of their decision on the matter in writing.

10

Tournaments – General Information

Flights - General

Members often feel most comfortable competing in tournament events from the tees where they normally play their casual rounds. Since the Handicap System contains allowances for competitions where players are playing different tees, there is no reason not to allow Members to play their “regular” tees in a tournament, unless the specific format of a tournament requires play from a certain set of tees.

Most SRGC member tournaments offer “flights” in which a player may compete. These flights attempt to create groups of similarly skilled in which to compete. Flights may be formed using handicaps, tees being played or by blind draw. The flighting method for an event will be announced in advance. For events not flighted by blind draw, players will designate the one flight in which they will compete. Possible flight designations include Gross flight, Net flight, Senior Net flight and Ladies flight. The tees used by each flight for an event will be designated. In most cases, the Gross flight will play from the Gold or Blue tees, the Net flight from the Blue tees, the Senior Net flight from the White tees and the Ladies flight from the Red tees.

Certain events will be flighted at the conclusion of play by arranging all scores into sequential order and dividing the field into flights of equal number. The winner of each flight would be the team in each flight with the lowest score.

Each tournament signup page will list all possible competitive flights for which prizes may be awarded. Flights available in each event are subject to change (addition and/or deletion of flights) depending on the number of players that sign up for a given flight. A minimum of four players must sign up for a given flight in order for that flight to be used in an event. The prize pool and the number of prizes awarded within a given flight will be dependent on the number of players competing in the flight. If a flight has insufficient players, no prize will be awarded in that flight. Players must reassign their flight designation and compete in a flight that is awarding prizes. Players will be informed of the prizes in each flight prior to play.

Flight Qualifications

Gross Flight: Open to any member in good standing. The competition in this flight is not handicapped. This flight will play from the gold or blue tees depending on the tournament format. In all cases, a player in the gross flight must compete from the set of tees designated for the gross flight since a handicap adjustment for a different set of tees is not possible. Net Flight: Open to any member in good standing. The competition in this flight is handicapped. Players must have a valid USGA handicap as discussed earlier in this program. This flight will play primarily from the blue tees. Qualified players wishing to compete in this flight from a tee other than that designated for this flight will have their handicap adjusted to reflect the tees from which they play in accordance with USGA guidelines.

11

Senior Net Flight: Open to any member in good standing who has reached the age of 60 on or before the date of the event. The competition in this flight is handicapped. Players must have a valid USGA handicap as discussed earlier in this program. This flight will play primarily from the white tees. Qualified players wishing to compete in this flight from a tee other than that designated for this flight will have their handicap adjusted to reflect the tees from which they play in accordance with USGA guidelines. Ladies Flight: Open to any female member in good standing. The competition in this flight is handicapped. Players must have a valid USGA handicap as discussed earlier in this program. This flight will play primarily from the red tees. Qualified players wishing to compete in this flight from a tee other than that designated for this flight will have their handicap adjusted to reflect the tees from which they play in accordance with USGA guidelines.

Members will designate the flight in which they will compete when they register for a tournament. Except when a tournament’s format requirements do not permit, each tournament will offer members the opportunity to compete in the following flights: Flight Name Tees Gross Flight Gold or Blue (specified for each event) Net Flight Blue Senior Net Flight White Ladies Red

Members will indicate their flight preference on the tournament registration. Players may compete in any flight for which they meet the qualifications. A player is only permitted to compete in one flight.

Each flight must have a minimum number of entries in order to award prize money or a trophy, if applicable. If the minimum number is not met, players will be asked to move their registration to a different flight if they wish to compete for prizes.

SRGC and PVGC Shared Events

Club tournaments are typically only open to South Riding Golf Club members in good standing. However, certain specified Club events are open to both South Riding Golf Club members and Pleasant Valley Golf Club members. Any Pleasant Valley Golf Club member participating in a South Riding Golf Club event is bound by the same rules, policies and procedures as a South Riding Golf Club member.

12

South Riding Golf Club members are eligible to participate in the following Pleasant Valley Golf Club events:

For more information on participating in Pleasant Valley Golf Club events, please contact a member of the Professional Staff at the Pleasant Valley Golf Club, 703-222-7900. You must sign up for Pleasant Valley Golf Club events in person at that Club or in the Pleasant Valley Golf Club tournament sign up book located at South Riding Golf Club.

Tournament Handicapping

Each South Riding Golf Club tournament or event that has a net component will have a handicapping formula specific to the event. If applicable, all formulas are taken from the USGA Handicap Manual, where there are numerous guidelines for handicapping various formats of golf. If a format is being played which is not recognized by the USGA (e.g. scramble), a best effort will be made to develop an appropriate handicap formula to give all players a fair chance to win.

Tournament Rules

Except where noted, 2012 tournaments and events will follow the USGA Rules of Golf. It is each participant’s responsibility to be aware of the Rules of Golf and to apply the rules fairly and honestly in order to protect the integrity of the field. The tournament staff will distribute a local rule sheet to participants prior to the start of each event.

Rules are listed below that are in effect for all events.

1. All members wishing to compete in a South Riding Golf Club Member event must register in person at the Club or may register through the SRGC website. In person registration is available beginning March 30th for the entire 2012 tournament season in a binder at the handicap desk. For your convenience, there will be a Pleasant Valley Golf Club tournament sign up book located at South Riding for South Riding Golf Club members. Website registrations can be found listed in the “Online Store”. Entry deadlines are 7 days before the scheduled event. A deadline is considered the close of business on a posted date.

Following the signup deadline, a provisional or wait-list signup list will be kept by the head professional on a first-come-first-served basis until 48 hours prior to the event. This list may be used for two purposes:

• If a member on the original signup list withdraws from the event, (s)he may be replaced by the next name on the provisional list. The replacement then assumes the financial responsibility for that spot.

• If the number of participants is not evenly divisible by four, up to three players from the provisional list may be added to create full foursomes for each group.

13

Note that members signing up on the provisional list are doing so at their own risk; there is no guarantee players on this list will get a spot in the event.

2. All member events (excluding qualifiers) must have a minimum of 20 players signed up to participate by the entry deadline or the event will be cancelled due to lack of interest. Those players that signed up for a cancelled event will be given priority on the tee times that had been held for that event.

3. All events with 20 to 39 players will utilize tee time starts. Any event that has more then 40 participants will use a .

4. In accordance with VSGA policies, the use of laser rangefinders or GPS-based systems WILL be permitted for all events, provided the device gives distance information ONLY.

Devices providing information about gradient, wind speed or direction, temperature, etc. are not permitted.

5. Participants in any South Riding Golf Club sponsored event (tournament or league) may not bring a non-participant (e.g. child, parent, spouse, friend) onto the course in any capacity. No are permitted. Tournament spectators are only permitted within the area immediately adjacent to the Clubhouse.

6. Each participant/team in a given event will be required to submit a completed, signed and attested scorecard in order to be eligible for placement/prizes/Ryder Cup points. Pleasant Valley Golf Club Members are not eligible for South Riding Golf Club Ryder Cup points and will not be included when building a list of players earning points for any event.

7. In stroke-play events, playoffs will be used to break first place ties only.

All other ties will be broken using the USGA recommended method in the following manner (note that for net ties, the appropriate handicap allowances will be used to determine the correct net score):

The entire field for any given event will be divided in half by the Handicap Index of the players. The lower-handicapped half of the field will be grouped into foursomes randomly, and the higher-handicapped half of the field will be grouped similarly. Players will also be grouped by designated flight in which they are competing as much as possible.

For events with a shotgun start, groups will be placed on starting holes randomly, alternating between an “upper” group and a “lower” group. The goal is to be fair and equitable with regards to all players having the same opportunity to start near the front, middle, or rear of the field.

14

Entry Fees

In 2012, the South Riding Golf Club will continue to use a “pay-per-event” policy, which will allow the club to maximize the prize pool (based on number of participants) for a given event and allow members the flexibility to schedule only the events in which they wish to participate.

For each event a Member enters, an entry fee will be charged to that member’s account. The fee will cover the following: • Prize Pool • Any additional amenities associated with the event. (Food / Beverage, etc.)

Please note that the cart fee is not automatically included in the Entry Fee. While there may be events which have cart fee(s) included as part of the Entry Fee (for example, the South Riding Member-Guest), it should be assumed that if this is not specifically noted, cart fee(s) will be charged to the member’s account as applicable (members who have paid for the 2012 Cart Plan would not be charged a cart fee for a given event).

Prizes

The method by which a tournament is flighted is specified in each tournament’s rules. Players may only compete in and win a prize from one flight; the flight they designate when registering for a tournament. Prizes will be awarded in the form of South Riding Golf Club gift certificates. All gift certificates earned in 2012 events/tournaments expire one year from date of issuance and may be used for in-stock merchandise in the South Riding Golf Club pro shop only. The South Riding Golf Club pro shop will not accept gift certificates as payment for special orders.

Awards

In addition to the gift certificate prizes mentioned above, winners of various tournaments may receive other awards and/or benefits. Major tournament winners will receive trophies for their accomplishments and specified event winners will be honored at the end of season Champions Dinner.

Champions Dinner

In 2006, the South Riding Golf Club Management Team instituted a new tradition to honor the winners of club events over the past golf season. This tradition will be continued for the 2012 season, but with a new twist.

A dinner open to all South Riding Golf Club members will be held in January 2013 to honor the winners of the Clubs 2012 member tournaments. The tournament winners will be recognized for their accomplishment and trophy event winners will receive their trophies.

Tournament winners and their spouses will receive complementary invitations to attend the dinner. All other members and spouses attending the dinner will be charged a small fee to offset the cost of the dinner. Details of the dinner menu and cost to attend will be released prior to the event.

2012 Member - Member Championship

What is it: This is the South Riding Golf Club two-person team championship and is recognized as a “trophy” event. Three different formats of golf are used, requiring an all-around effort and contribution from both players.

When is it: Saturday May 19th and Sunday May 20th 8:00am Tee Times (20-39 Players) / 8:00am Shotgun Start (40+ Players)

Format: Players will play a total of 36 holes of golf, utilizing three different formats.

The first 18 holes will be two-person better-ball, each player playing his/her own ball. The second 18 holes will consist of nine holes of two-person scramble and nine holes of modified alternate-shot (each partner plays from the teeing ground, and after the tee shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole).

The field will compete in Gross, Net, Senior Net and Ladies flights, subject to minimum flight participation.

Tees: Men – Designated tees based on flight selected by player. Women - Designated tees based on flight selected by player.

Handicapping: Better-Ball: Each player will receive a percentage (90% men, 95% women) of his/her 18-hole Course Handicap from the tees he or she is playing. Scorecards will be marked to indicate holes where stroke(s) are received so that the low net scores for each hole may be determined.

Alternate Shot: Each player will receive a 9-hole Course Handicap, which will be added to his/her partner to form a combined Course Handicap. The team is then allowed 40% of this number (rounded) as its team handicap.

Scramble: Each player will receive a 9-hole Course Handicap, which will be added to his/her partner to form a combined Course Handicap. The team is then allowed 30% of this number (rounded) as its team handicap.

Winners: The overall Low Net, Senior Low Net, Low Gross and Ladies winners (subject to minimum flight participation) will be honored at the Champions’ Dinner and each will receive a trophy. Players earn Ryder Cup points based on the points criteria described elsewhere in the Golf Program.

Prizes: Winners will receive South Riding Golf Club gift certificates (number of places and amounts based on participation within each flight).

Fees: $55.00 per player - Plus applicable cart fees.

Signing Up: The registration for this event will be accepted up until May 12th. A non- guaranteed wait list will be open until May 17th. The sign up book is located in the handicap area of the clubhouse. Members may also register on the Club website.

Notes: There will be a post play awards reception on Sunday, May 20th immediately following completion of the Member-Member tournament. The menu will consist of Baked Ziti with Marinara Sauce and Italian Meatballs, accompanied by an Italian pasta salad, fresh garden salad and fresh rolls with butter.

19

The field will compete in Gross, Net, Senior Net and Ladies flights, subject to minimum flight participation.

Tees: Men – Designated tees based on flight selected by player. Women - Designated tees based on flight selected by player.

Handicapping: Each player will receive 100% of his/her 18-hole course handicap from the tees he or she is playing.

2012 Club Championship

When is it: Saturday September 15th (Quarterfinals), Sunday September 16th (Semifinals) Saturday September 22nd (Finals)

Eligibility: The Championship Flight is restricted to those players who qualified during the Club Championship Qualifier. All Members in good standing are eligible to play in the other (Net) flights. See the handicapping section below for player flight assignments.

Format: Each match will consist of 18 holes of match-play (with the exception of the Championship Flight final, which is 36 holes). When one player is ahead by more holes then there are holes left to play, the match is over.

Tees: Championship Flight – Championship (Gold) Tees Men – Designated tees based on net flight selected by player. Women - Designated tees based on flight selected by player.

Net Flights – All registered players will be ranked according to Handicap Index, lowest to highest, within their selected flight (net, senior net or ladies). The players with the eight lowest Handicap Indices will be placed in the First Flight, the next eight in the Second Flight, and so on. A traditional match-play bracket will be set up for each flight.

Net players may be combined into consolidated flights if there is an insufficient number to complete a bracket of one net category. Their handicaps will be adjusted to reflect the difference in tees played in accordance with USGA rules.

Each player will receive 100% of his/her 18-hole Course handicap from the tees he or she is playing. Scorecards will be marked to indicate holes where stroke(s) are received so that the low net scores for each hole may be determined. The higher handicap of the two players will receive the stroke differential of the two handicaps, adjusted as necessary for tee differences.

Winners: Each Flight will have a winner, a runner-up, and a third place finisher (each flight will have a consolation match). All flight winners will be honored at the Champions Dinner. The winner of the Championship Flight will be the captain of the 2013 South Riding Golf Club A-Team and will automatically be seeded #1 for the 2013 South Riding Golf Club - Club Championship. The runner-up in the Championship Flight is automatically qualified for the 2013 South Riding Golf Club A-Team.

Tiebreakers: If a match is all square (tied) after 18 holes, the match will continue with a sudden-death on a hole designated by the professional staff. The first player to win a hole wins the match.

Prizes: Winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) will receive South Riding Golf Club Gift Certificates (number of places and amounts to be determined by the number of entrants). 2012 SRGC Ryder Cup Team Qualification Criteria

The annual South Riding Golf Club – Pleasant Valley Golf Club Ryder Cup Matches have become a highly anticipated and contested event. Interest in participating has grown accordingly amongst South Riding Golf Club members. The team qualification criteria emphasize quality play throughout the entire qualification period in order to allow South Riding Golf Club to have the best chance of winning while allowing as many members as possible the opportunity to participate. Members are also rewarded for their support of and participation in the tournaments offered at South Riding Golf Club.

The Ryder Cup team consists of sixteen players, made up of members earning one of three automatic spots, ten members selected based on their Ryder Cup points earned, two captain’s selections and members of the Club professional staff. The specific breakdown is as follows:

1 2012 South Riding Golf Club Ryder Cup Qualifier – First Place (Gross)

2 2012 South Riding Golf Club Ryder Cup Qualifier – First Place (Net)

3 2012 South Riding Golf Club Ryder Cup Qualifier – First Place (Senior Net)

4 - 13 2012 South Riding Golf Club Ryder Cup Points List – Top ten finishers

14 - 15 Two Captain’s Picks

16 Member of the South Riding Golf Club Professional Staff

Notes:

a. If a member already on the team finishes in a qualifying place in the Ryder Cup points list, the actual qualifying position will fall to the next finishing member.

b. If a qualifying player does not accept entrance onto the team, the next finishing member on the points list will fill the open position.

c. The rules of the annual Ryder Cup Matches provide that two members of each team will be “seniors” and will play from the white tees. One of these spots will be filled by the Senior Net winner of the Ryder Cup Qualifier and the second place will be filled by the senior player earning the highest number of Ryder Cup points. In the event that there are not a sufficient number of senior players participating in the qualifier, both senior positions on the Ryder Cup team will be filled from the points list.

d. In the event of a tie for the last spot from the points list, the player with the better finish in the Ryder Cup qualifier will qualify. If none of the tied players participated in the Ryder Cup qualifier, than the Professional staff will make the selection by coin flip.

29

2012 SRGC Ryder Cup Points System

Ryder Cup Points may be earned via two methods: participation and results. In order to receive participation points, a member must complete the specified event and turn in a scorecard. Withdrawals, disqualifications and “no-carding” will result in the member receiving zero points for that event.

Points may be earned beginning with the first event of the year through the completion of the Governor’s Cup Championship. The team must be finalized approximately six weeks prior to the actual dates of the Ryder Cup to allow enough time to order uniforms.

Any and all Pleasant Valley Golf Club players who may be participating will not be included in the event ranking.
