PRE-TOURNAMENT INTERVIEW: EUN JEONG SEONG April 26, 2017
Q. First of all, say your name and where you're from?
EUN JEONG SEONG: My name? My name is Eun Jeong Seong. I'm from Korea.
Q. When did you start playing golf?
EUN JEONG SEONG: I start playing golf six years old.
Q. Six years old?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah.
Q. And so you're probably playing --
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah, 11.
Q. How did you get into the golf?
EUN JEONG SEONG: My parents (inaudible) player before, that's why they -- and I was young. I like hang out and I like soccer, swimming, every sport, but golf was more for good after pro. That's why I started golf.
Q. And when did you want to be a professional?
EUN JEONG SEONG: I don't know, just before I get win many time, I just think about I want to go pro.
Q. So when you play in America, what is your first impression?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Oh, I see some tournament on the TV, so different in LPGA and KLPGA because here is many other country players, international players are here. That's why I want to play here. My ultimate goal is LPGA, I just want to start here.
Q. When you play here in America, how did you (inaudible) to the golf course, like a grass?
EUN JEONG SEONG: In Korea it's all most bentgrass on the golf course, but here everywhere, like Texas, California or New York and whether it's every different. First year so tired because I don't know how to putt, how to hit, but now I can oh, this is -- I need to hit like this or like this every different type I hit.
1 Tee-Scripts.com Q. So like when you struggling, like you play bad sometime in America, how did you recover yourself?
EUN JEONG SEONG: I was playing U.S. Amateur first time, I didn't make cut. I'm very sad, I crying. I didn't take dinner, I just sleep. But I'm okay because first time.
Q. Then you won U.S. Amateur after? Or no, no, Junior, the Junior?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes.
Q. And what about that moment when you win, how did you feel?
EUN JEONG SEONG: I feel good, but my ultimate goal is U.S. Amateur. That's why I have more play better. I need to win U.S. Amateur. I think about that.
Q. When you play ANA Inspiration, the first day you were in the top, 5 under.
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah.
Q. Do you think that your golf, do you have a confidence in your golf at the moment?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes. I didn't make cut at ANA, but I'm very confident because I was going leaderboard on the first day. That's why I'm going to practice more and my mindset is more better. I can play better than ANA.
Q. So how at this moment, I mean you want to play on the LPGA Tour next season?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes.
Q. What do you think is more important to play here?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Now is -- now (inaudible) player, I think, but I have to more short game and putting is more important next year because I want to turn pro. That's why I need to practice more short game and putting.
Q. What do you focus more on on the short game?
EUN JEONG SEONG: I don't know, every short game.
Q. It's harder here than Korea?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes, more harder because different grass and green is more not soft.
Q. Not soft?

Q. So it's hard?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah.
Q. So the ball bounces?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah. I need to landing softly or make spin, different type.
Q. Lastly, what is your goal of your career on the LPGA Tour?
EUN JEONG SEONG: My ultimate goal is all major tournament win. I think I need to more play LPGA or I need to practice more confident because now is I'm confident but not every shot. My goal is four majors.
Q. Grand Slam?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah, Grand Slam.
Q. Like Inbee Park?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah, like Inbee Park.
Q. Do you like Inbee?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes, I think she's very best golfer because she has Grand Slam and Olympic medal, so I like her.
Q. That's your role model?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yeah.
Q. You just had your career best finish in Hawaii. How was that experience?
EUN JEONG SEONG: That's my best finish in LPGA. I'm very confident because I have 8 under last day. I'm very confident, but I get cold now, that's why I cannot practice much this week. I'm going to make my routine and my feel very good.
Q. Did you get a chance to play this course yet? Have you played the course?
EUN JEONG SEONG: Yes, yes.
Q. How is it?

EUN JEONG SEONG: Not too difficult, but every day different weather. That's why I need to -- some day I need to more make birdie, some day I need to make par.

EUN JEONG SEONG: This week, top 10.
