INTRODUCTION 3rd Indiana international FIDE Rating Chess Tournament is third consecutive chess tournament being organized by Central India Institute of Education and Cultural Development, Nagpur (CIIECD). CIIECD is a registered trust under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 and Maharashtra Societies Registration Act 1860. CIIECD is working in the field of education, sports and social activities since its inception. Chess, one of the most ancient, intellectual and cultural games, is a combination of sports, of scientific thinking. CIIECD recognizes the values of this game in human life, hence committed to built a platform on national and international level to facilitate it for children, youths and veterans. With this mission CIIECD is organizing FIDE Rating Chess Tournament in Nagpur from the year 2014. The Tournament is recognized by FIDE, AICF, MCA and NDCA. These are the authorities existing in the sports of chess on global, national state and district level. FIDE : Federation International Des Echecs (FIDE) is a world chess federation, founded on 20th July, 1924 at Paris, France. FIDE is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the international federation in the domain of chess, the supreme body responsible for the sport of chess and its Championships. FIDE has the sole rights to organize the World Chess Championships and the Chess Olympiads. FIDE unites national chess federations throughout the world and oversees all International competitions. The purpose and aim of FIDE are the diffusion and development of chess among all nations of the world, as well as the raising of the level of chess culture and knowledge on a sporting, scientific, creative, educational and cultural basis. FIDE supports a close international cooperation of the chess devotees in all fields of chess activity, thereby also aiming to improve friendly harmony among all peoples of the world. AICF : All India Chess Federation (AICF), (Hindi: अिखल भारतीय शतर,ज महास,घ) is central Administrative body for the game of chess in India, having its headquarter at Chennai Founded in 1951. The federation is affiliated to FIDE. MCA : Maharashtra Chess association (MCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Maharashtra, State. It was formed in 1963 and is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation (AICF). Every player must have registration with AICF and MCA (for players from Maharashtra only) for the 2016-2017. Players have to produce registration slip at the time of tournament registration. 3. Registration facility for AICF and MCA is available on tournament venue with registration fee of Rs. 250/- and 150/- respectively for those players who do not have registration. 4. School entries are also allowed with authorization letter. Score of top four players of a school will be considered for Special school prize. 5. Players who have played in unauthorized tournament listed by AICF will not be allowed to participate in the tournament 6. last date of Registration 30th Oct. 2016 7. Last date of Registration with late fee of Rs. 200/- 3rd Nov. 2016. " D. TOURNAMENT RULES: 1. The Tournament will be conducted as per FIDE law of Chess. System of play will be FIDE-SWISS LEAGUE SYSTEM, with 9 rounds. Time control will be 90 min + 30 second increment per move. 2. TIE BREAK : in case of TIE the latest FIDE rules shall be applied. The cash prize will not be shared. 3. PROTESTS : Protests if any against the Chief Arbiter, should be made in writing with protest fee of Rs. 500/- within 15 minutes of occurrence of incidence. The fee amount shall be refunded if the appeal is upheld and if not then protest fee shall be fore-fitted. " E. ACCOMMODATION : Accommodation shall be arranged near by the venue on the cost bared by the player.     Viswanathan Anand addresses online session for SAI officials from Germany , says the apex sports body can contribute greatly in promoting chess in India New Delhi, April 22: Indian sports legend Viswanathan Anand who is a former multiple-time world champion, former World Number 1 and a Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee, today addressed the newly-appointed Assistant Directors of the Sports Authority of India in a special online session from Germany. Speaking at the session he shared his experience of nearly four decades of playing chess, how the game has changed over the years with advanced technology and also how the Sports Authority of India can help in building up budding chess players in the country. Addressing the newly-appointed administrators, Anand said Sports Authority of India can make a big difference towards promoting chess as a sport in India. “SAI already has facilities and infrastructure for training. It would be of great help to budding chess players if SAI could give them access to special Chess Computers in these facilities since most players don't have access to these.” Anand, who has been in Germany since the Corona pandemic broke our and lockdown was announced in various countries, including India, has said that he goes for long walks during this lean period. However, he is also known to take up physical fitness sessions all year round. Speaking about the importance of fitness in a sport like Chess which is perceived as a sport of the mind, Anand urged young chess players to go to SAI centres and keep their physical fitness at par with their mental fitness, “Fitness is not a problem when you are young, but it becomes a factor when you start getting older.
