Alessandro Corbelli Baritone Alessandro Corbelli Baritone Born in Turin, he is considered one of the world's preeminent opera singers especially for Mozart and Rossini’s repertoire. He studied with Giuseppe Valdengo and Claude Thiolas and he made his debut in 1973 at the age of twenty-one in Aosta as the Count Monterone in Verdi's Rigoletto. In 1974 he is Marcello (La Bohème) at Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo and in 1975 he is Giorgio Germont for La Traviata in Bologna. Very well known are his interpretation of Falstaff and Belcore but especially Don Magnifico and Dandini in La Cenerentola by Rossini. He performed in all prestigious opera houses around the world, from La Scala to opera companies in Vienna, Paris, London, Metropolitan of New York, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles and Chicago. He worked “The sigh and with the most important conductors with whom he made renowned recordings (Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Fonit Cetra, Teldec, ecc.). He performed also among opera Festivals wordwide (Salzburg, the intention” Edinburgh, Schwetzingen and , Glyndebourne Festivals, Ravenna Festival and Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro). He won admiration for his elegant singing style and sharp characterizations, especially in comic roles. OPERA SINGING Although primarily associated with Italian-language comic roles, Cultural Association Corbelli’s résumé shows his wide-ranging interests and versatility, & School of Music including French and German roles (Sulpice in Donizetti's La fille du MASTERCLASS regiment, Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte), Baroque opera 00169 Rome - Via Casilina, 1101 (Seneca in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea) and a twentieth- WITH century English-language opera (Nick Shadow in Stravinsky’s The ph. + 39 06.2389732 Rake's Progress). He has also sung roles in later Italian comic operas, www.ariadimusica.com for instance the title roles in Verdi’s Falstaff and Puccini’s Gianni [email protected] Schicchi. He is active in the concert hall as well, performing as a soloist ALESSANDRO in oratorios and vocal symphonies. His stage presence is commanding and he excels in comic timing and Facebook pages: subtle characterization. He also holds masterclass with great success. È stato Direttore stabile dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (1979-1997), Direttore principale dell’Orchestra della Rai di Roma (1987-1991), Generalmusikdirektor dello Stuttgart Staatstheater (1991-1997), Direttore musicale del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli (1999-2004) e Direttore principale del Teatro Massimo di Palermo (2001-2006).
