Without a company the size and stature of Panavision behind these projects they would be very difficult to achieve. Ross Emery ACS Shooting in 3D is a complex and challenging undertaking. It’s amazing how many people talk about being able to do it, but Panavision actually knows how to make it happen. -

Seven Unveils Content Plans for 2019
SEVEN UNVEILS CONTENT PLANS FOR 2019 Slate includes new Bevan Lee drama and two supersized reality hits Geraldine Hakewill, Joel Jackson and Catherine McClements headline Miss Fisher spin-off MKR’s 10th anniversary season to launch the year “Top Gear meets food” in new Gordon Ramsay series New overseas dramas feature screen heavyweights Martin Clunes, Sheridan Smith, Kelsey Grammer and more (Sydney, Friday October 26): The Seven Network today unveiled its content plans for 2019. Four new local dramas, including the next offering from creator Bevan Lee; two supersized reality hits; a female spinoff to one of the year’s most heart-warming hits and the landmark 10th season of one of Australia’s biggest shows are just some of the programs set to take Seven into its 13th consecutive year of leadership. Commenting, Seven’s Director of Network Programming Angus Ross said: “After a close win last year, we promised to up our game in 2018, and the team has delivered in spades. We’ve broken records and dominated the ratings throughout the year. In fact, in every month we have never dropped below a 39% share, while our competitors have never been above 39%. Our worst is still better than their best. “What’s particularly pleasing is that this success is down to the strength and depth of our programming across the board. From 6am to midnight, we have the strongest spine of ratings winners, bar none. And with the AFL and Cricket locked up until 2022, Seven can guarantee those mass audiences, and certainty for our advertisers, for years to come.” NEW TO SEVEN IN 2019 BETWEEN TWO WORLDS From Australia’s most prolific creator/writer Bevan Lee (Packed to the Rafters, A Place To Call Home, All Saints, Winners & Losers, Always Greener) comes an intense, high concept contemporary drama series about two disparate and disconnected worlds, thrown together by death and a sacrifice in one and the chance for new life in the other. -

Stephen Harrington Thesis
PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE BEYOND JOURNALISM: INFOTAINMENT, SATIRE AND AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION STEPHEN HARRINGTON BCI(Media&Comm), BCI(Hons)(MediaSt) Submitted April, 2009 For the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Creative Industries Faculty Queensland University of Technology, Australia 1 2 STATEMENT OF ORIGINAL AUTHORSHIP The work contained in this thesis has not been previously submitted to meet requirements for an award at this or any other higher education institution. To the best of my knowledge and belief, the thesis contains no material previously published or written by another person, except where due reference is made. _____________________________________________ Stephen Matthew Harrington Date: 3 4 ABSTRACT This thesis examines the changing relationships between television, politics, audiences and the public sphere. Premised on the notion that mediated politics is now understood “in new ways by new voices” (Jones, 2005: 4), and appropriating what McNair (2003) calls a “chaos theory” of journalism sociology, this thesis explores how two different contemporary Australian political television programs (Sunrise and The Chaser’s War on Everything) are viewed, understood, and used by audiences. In analysing these programs from textual, industry and audience perspectives, this thesis argues that journalism has been largely thought about in overly simplistic binary terms which have failed to reflect the reality of audiences’ news consumption patterns. The findings of this thesis suggest that both ‘soft’ infotainment (Sunrise) and ‘frivolous’ satire (The Chaser’s War on Everything) are used by audiences in intricate ways as sources of political information, and thus these TV programs (and those like them) should be seen as legitimate and valuable forms of public knowledge production. -

Media Release Thursday 23 January 2020
Media Release Thursday 23 January 2020 Eurovision royalty to grace Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020 Watch the Live TV Final on Saturday 8 February 8.30pm AEDT on SBS and cast your vote SBS and production partner Blink TV today revealed Swedish pop phenomenon and winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Måns Zelmerlöw is heading to the Gold Coast to perform and be one of the Jury members for Eurovision – Australia Decides next month. Swedish singer, songwriter and TV presenter Måns Zelmerlöw masterminded one of the most memorable wins in Swedish Eurovision Song Contest history with his performance of the uplifting multi- platinum single Heroes. After winning, Heroes peaked at #1 on iTunes in 21 countries and his tour across Europe took him to 22 cities – most of them at sold out venues. In 2016, he co-hosted the song contest in Stockholm, Sweden where Dami Im made history winning the Jury vote and coming second overall with her performance of Sound of Silence. Måns Zelmerlöw said: “I’m so excited to come back to my favourite country to perform, and to be a guest judge on the National Eurovision selection show! Australia has sent great songs ever since they joined the Eurovision Song Contest and I think 2020 could be THE year. I might sing a line or two from my winning song from 2015 and from my newest single, Walk with Me, featuring the wonderful Dami Im. Can’t wait to see you all!” Joining him in Australia is Eurovision boss Jon Ola Sand who will step down as Executive Supervisor after Rotterdam 2020. -
Joel Creasey
JOEL CREASEY “Creasey is an unstoppable force and the crown prince of Aussie comedy.” - The Daily Telegraph Joel Creasey is one of Australia's most-popular, acclaimed and charmingly controversial stand-up comedians. A self-described shameless "fame whore", Joel has become a television staple in Australia. This year alone, Joel has captained his team to (occasional) victory on the first season of Channel Ten’s newest studio-based comedy series, Show Me The Movie!, along with enemy-captain Jane Harber and host Rove McManus. Ten Network has just announced a second season. Joel also made his soap star debut on one of Australia’s favourite TV shows, Neighbours. It was recently announced that Joel shall be Australia’s newest and frankly loosest, cupid – hosting the worldwide phenomenon dating show, ‘Take Me Out’, on Network Seven. To add to a very busy television year, Joel was chuffed to see his stand up special, recorded at the esteemed Sydney Opera House, air on Network Ten. A prestigious honour that not many stand-up comedians have achieved. Landing the much coveted role as co-host of SBS’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ alongside Myf Warhurst in 2017, Joel and Myf returned in 2018 for the global event described as the Olympics of song contests. Joel caused international headlines this year during his commentary, when a stage invader attempted to grab the microphone during the UK’s performance. Reacting without hesitation, Joel said “what an absolute cockhead”, a quote that immediately went viral worldwide. Even JK Rowling heard the quote and instantly praised his candour, awarding him an ‘Order of Merlin First Class’, a title only held by 11 people in the world (yes, it’s really a thing and Joel’s proudest achievement to date). -
