Vladimír Hemala Ústav botaniky a zoologie, Přírodovědecká fakulta, Masarykova univerzita, Kotlářská 2, CZ-611 37 Brno, Česká republika; e-mail: [email protected] Abstract. True bugs are relatively poorly known in the Pieniny Mts., while, significantly better situation is in the Polish part of the mountains where 263 species have been known until now. Unfortunately, only 34 species had been recorded from the Slovak part of the Pieniny Mts. until 2017. During the last short survey in 2017, which took place within XLI. East Slovak Camp of Environmentalists, 54 previously unrecorded species were examined increasing the number of species known from the Slovak part of Pieniny Mts. to 88. The total number of species in Polish and Slovak parts of the Pieniny Mts. reaches as many as 272. Sand pit for Biodiversity at Cep II quarry Researcher: Klára Řehounková Research group: Petr Bogusch, David Boukal, Milan Boukal, Lukáš Čížek, František Grycz, Petr Hesoun, Kamila Lencová, Anna Lepšová, Jan Máca, Pavel Marhoul, Klára Řehounková, Jiří Řehounek, Lenka Schmidtmayerová, Robert Tropek Březen – září 2012 Abstract We compared the effect of restoration status (technical reclamation, spontaneous succession, disturbed succession) on the communities of vascular plants and assemblages of arthropods in CEP II sand pit (T řebo ňsko region, SW part of the Czech Republic) to evaluate their biodiversity and conservation potential. We also studied the experimental restoration of psammophytic grasslands to compare the impact of two near-natural restoration methods (spontaneous and assisted succession) to establishment of target species. The sand pit comprises stages of 2 to 30 years since site abandonment with moisture gradient from wet to dry habitats. In all studied groups, i.e. vascular pants and arthropods, open spontaneously revegetated sites continuously disturbed by intensive recreation activities hosted the largest proportion of target and endangered species which occurred less in the more closed spontaneously revegetated sites and which were nearly absent in technically reclaimed sites. Out results provide clear evidence that the mosaics of spontaneously established forests habitats and open sand habitats are the most valuable stands from the conservation point of view. It has been documented that no expensive technical reclamations are needed to restore post-mining sites which can serve as secondary habitats for many endangered and declining species. The experimental restoration of rare and endangered plant communities seems to be efficient and promising method for a future large-scale restoration projects in abandoned sand pits. -

Modern Phytomorphology 9 (Suppl.): 35–73, 2016 SOME NOTES ON THE GENUS ACONITUM IN CHORNOHOra MTS. Andrew V. Novikoff 1*, Józef Mitka 2, Alexander Kuzyarin 1, Oleg Orlov 1, Marina Ragulina 1 Abstract. The paper is a contribution to ecology and chorology ofAconitum in high-mountain zone of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It was confirmed that genusAconitum in the Chornogora mountain range is represented by 14 taxa, and 7 more taxa were listed as potential for this region. These taxa belong to 3 subgenera and are divided on 4 main biomorphological groups delimited on the base of their habitat, life form, ecology and altitudinal distribution. The soil and vegetation types for all taxa have been identified and the maps of their distribution have been prepared. The most influent threats and their categories were identified. Threat category for A. × nanum was changed from DD to VU, and for A. firmum subsp. fussianum from NT to VU. Additions, Deletions and Corrections to the Staphylinidae in the Irish Coleoptera Annotated List, with a Revised Check-List of Irish Species
Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society Number 41 (2017) ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND CORRECTIONS TO THE STAPHYLINIDAE IN THE IRISH COLEOPTERA ANNOTATED LIST, WITH A REVISED CHECK-LIST OF IRISH SPECIES Jervis A. Good1 and Roy Anderson2 1Glinny, Riverstick, Co. Cork, Republic of Ireland. e-mail: <[email protected]> 21 Belvoirview Park, Belfast BT8 7BL, Northern Ireland. e-mail: <[email protected]> Abstract Since the 1997 Irish Coleoptera – a revised and annotated list, 59 species of Staphylinidae have been added to the Irish list, 11 species confirmed, a number have been deleted or require to be deleted, and the status of some species and names require correction. Notes are provided on the deletion, correction or status of 63 species, and a revised check-list of 710 species is provided with a generic index. Species listed, or not listed, as Irish in the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera (2nd edition), in comparison with this list, are discussed. The Irish status of Gabrius sexualis Smetana, 1954 is questioned, although it is retained on the list awaiting further investgation. Key words: Staphylinidae, check-list, Irish Coleoptera, Gabrius sexualis. Introduction The Staphylinidae (rove-beetles) comprise the largest family of beetles in Ireland (with 621 species originally recorded by Anderson, Nash and O’Connor (1997)) and in the world (with 55,440 species cited by Grebennikov and Newton (2009)). Since the publication in 1997 of Irish Coleoptera - a revised and annotated list by Anderson, Nash and O’Connor, there have been a large number of additions (59 species), confirmation of the presence of several species based on doubtful old records, a number of deletions and corrections, and significant nomenclatural and taxonomic changes to the list of Irish Staphylinidae. -

Master’s Thesis 2019 60 ECTS Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management Change in arthropod communities following a mass death incident of reindeer at Hardangervidda Heidi Mørkhagen Granum Master of Science in Ecology Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management Acknowledgements I would like to express my gratitude to my supervisors Tone Birkemoe, Sam Steyaert and Anders Aak for your useful feedback and engagement through the work of this master thesis. Thank you to the research group in the REINCAR project, who made it possible to have fantastic trips to Hardangervidda during the summer of 2018. Thank you to Sindre Ligaard, who identified all beetles to species level, to Tone Granerud for assisting in the categorization of traps, and to all the people who have read my drafts and given me feedback on my writing. Another set of eyes makes big differences sometimes. Finally, I must express my very profound gratitude to my mother and to my boyfriend for coming with me to Hardangervidda and helping me with the fieldwork, and also providing me with infinite love and support through the most difficult year of my life, through my sister’s passing. This master thesis would not have been possible without them. Thank you. 1 Table of contents 1.
