Fast Genetics is currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill a full-time position of a Swine Production Technician in our Neupork Barn which is a grow finish facility. Neupork is situated among several communities; Hague, Waldheim, Hepburn, Rosthern, Osler and Martensville; ranging from a 10- 30 minute commute to Neupork and 15-45 minutes from Saskatoon, allowing you to gain small town living with big city benefits close by. This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions but is not limited to: • Performing specific department duties, • Ensuring proper health, handling, and comfort of animals; ie: daily health checks, • Carrying out daily care routines, • Weighing, sorting and moving pigs, • Ensuring feed and water systems are working properly, • Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature using automated control system, • Performing minor maintenance tasks, • Power washing empty pens and prepping rooms for animal entry, • Keeping accurate records on all animals as requested; ie: pig identification, • Working in a safe manner while performing all job duties, • Ensure the barn's biosecurity protocol is followed by all staff and visitors, • Performing other general farm duties as required. The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications and experiences: • Self-motivated and reliable, • Team player, • Outstanding organization and communication skills and demonstrates attention to detail, • Able to manage priorities and solve problems, • Previous livestock experience, • Driver’s license, • College certificate or other specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry with 1-2 years of experience would be an asset, but not a requirement, as on the job training is provided, • Shares in Fast Genetics core values, Wages range from $12.50 -$19.50/hr and is based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
