In each of these works, the authors of these characters refuse to position them as role models, instead focusing on their extreme negative capacity, presenting their story arcs not as ones of redemption or correction, but as ones of continuous development and iteration of personal defect. Against the trend of hailing positive representations of women in fiction, these flawed and profoundly human characters slide the scale in the opposite direction. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan antara lain untuk mengidentifikasi motif- motif karakter melakukan pembunuhan, untuk menjelaskan bagaimana isu motif pembunuhan digambarkan dalam novel dan untuk mengungkapkan alasan penulis mengangkat isu motif pembunuhan. Hasil dari penelitian ini antara lain (1) terdapat tiga motif pembunuhan yaitu kebutuhan untuk makanan, keamanan dari rasa takut dan keamanan dari rasa cemas, (2) penulis menggambarkan isu motif pembunuhan melalui karakter, setting, peristiwa dan style, (3) penulis mengangkat isu motif pembunuhan karena penulis ingin menulis novel tentang hal- hal yang gelap dan karakter wanita yang bermasalah. The third is tertiary needs, which include cars, motorcycles, computers, gadgets that fulfill their needs after secondary needs are met. Nevertheless, sometimes not everyone lives in luck, and those who are unlucky may struggle very hard to fulfill their needs, especially for people who lives in poverty circle. People who live in poverty should work hard to feed their family, although they have to do it with the wrong way. In this research, the researcher is interested in the issue about struggle. Struggle is not primarily physical, it can also be intellectual or psychological according to Adams and Balfour (in Muel, 2015). People are able to struggle for a better future also better environment that is valuable to them. Public are able to struggle against something unwanted such as scarcity, since there is something else they rate, and in this case is prosperity (Kaptein, 2017). In other hand, the researcher examined the opposite of prosperity that is argued by Kaptein on the theory above, because the issue that is raised by the researcher was examining the struggle of women in facing poverty. The poverty that is depicted in this novel is a struggle of a mother to support for her family's life, and the form of the struggle is a physical struggle.

Background of the Study Traumatic events have a great impact on affecting and shaping in human behavior, characters and self-development towards everything in our life. In some cases, some people experience trauma and distressing events in their early childhood and teenager phase. When someone grows up in a traumatic and bad environment, sometimes one can only imagine and consider themselves to be victims from the tragedy that believes suffering should be eradicated. Also, when a traumatic event happens, the subject might experience losing a person, family or personal thing that makes them realize the emptiness and unhappiness because they separated from their loved ones after the tragic event happened. Loss is separation, Of the many aspects that need to be considered in all kinds of losses (loss of relatives, area where a language is spoken, familiar environment), the aspect of separation from the reference person is central. It is definitely no coincidence that a whole area of study has arisen in recent decades dealing with the issue of trauma and separation. It makes sense to see this widespread interest in the issues of separation, which also emerges in psychological literature, as an expression of a concrete, collective human experience of the 20th century, which witnessed million-fold persecution, war, expulsion and flight. Background of the Study In this life, human beings have life needs that must be fulfilled, especially primary needs. Life needs here are divided into three needs. The first need is primary needs which include clothing, food, shelter. The second is secondary needs, the needs of which are fulfilled after primary needs are met which include education, tourism or recreation. The third is tertiary needs, which include cars, motorcycles, computers, gadgets that fulfill their needs after secondary needs are met. Nevertheless, sometimes not everyone lives in luck, and those who are unlucky may struggle very hard to fulfill their needs, especially for people who lives in poverty circle. People who live in poverty should work hard to feed their family, although they have to do it with the wrong way. In this research, the researcher is interested in the issue about struggle. Struggle is not primarily physical, it can also be intellectual or psychological according to Adams and Balfour (in Muel, 2015). People are able to struggle for a better future also better environment that is valuable to them. Public are able to struggle against something unwanted such as scarcity, since there is something else they rate, and in this case is prosperity (Kaptein, 2017). In other hand, the researcher examined the opposite of prosperity that is argued by Kaptein on the theory above, because the issue that is raised by the researcher was examining the struggle of women in facing poverty.
