Phylogenetic analyse based on the ITS sequence, LSU sequence and the ITS+LSU sequence show that the new species belongs to Porpomyces and forms a distict clade as a sister group of Porpomyces mucidus. The fungus is characterized by thin, white to cream, resupinate basidiome with cottony to rhizomorphic margin, small pores (7–9 per mm), a monomitic hyphal structure with clamped generative hyphae, usually ampullated at most septa, and small, hyaline, thin-walled, ellipsoid basidiospores measuring 2.2–2.8 × 1.2–1.8 μm. -

T. macrospora is characterized by an annual habit, pileate basidiocarps with a distinct crust, dimitic hyphal system with dextrinoid skeletal hyphae, and large ellipsoid, truncate, strongly dextrinoid basidiospores (16.5–19.5 × 8.0–9.5 µm). Molecular study based on sequence data from the nuclear ribosomal ITS and LSU regions supported the position of the new species in Truncospora, forming monophyletic lineage with strong support (100% BP, 1.00 BPP). Truncospora and Perenniporiella were proved to be sister-genera and grouped with other genera of Perenniporia sensu lato within the core polyporoid clade. An identification key to the species of Truncospora worldwide is provided. This collection corresponds to the most frequent interpretation of the taxon in modern literature. Since the condition of the material is not sufficient to determine microscopic and molecular characters, the authors designate a well-docu- mented collection from the same area (central Bohemia) and corresponding in all aspects with the holotype as an epitype. Bettini 14/11, I16162 Genova, Italy Abstract— The paper is aimed at integrating and updating the first edition of the checklist of Ligurian macrofungi. Data are related to mycological researches carried out mainly in some holm-oak woods through last three years. The new taxa collected amount to 172: 15 of them belonging to Ascomycota and 157 to Basidiomycota. It should be highlighted that 12 taxa have been recorded for the first time in Italy and many species are considered rare or infrequent. Each taxa reported consists of the following items: Latin name, author, habitat, height, and the WGS-84 Global Position System (GPS) coordinates. This work, together with the original Ligurian checklist, represents a contribution to the national checklist. Key words—mycological flora, new reports Introduction Liguria represents a very interesting region from a mycological point of view: macrofungi, directly and not directly correlated to vegetation, are frequent, abundant and quite well distributed among the species. This topic is faced and discussed in Zotti & Orsino (2001). Observations prove an high level of fungal biodiversity (sometimes called “mycodiversity”) since Liguria, though covering only about 2% of the Italian territory, shows more than 36 % of all the species recorded in Italy. -

I thank you all for the PRESIDENT’S confidence in re-electing me. In my first message last year I highlighted four goals. I will spend this message looking back at how we did and what we have yet to do with those MESSAGE goals and other challenges. The first goal was “to continue to ensure positive value for new as well as existing mem- bers.” The MMS remains one of the biggest bargains out there. We once again provided a full slate of foray opportunities to our members and guests, and filled our meetings with educational content. We hosted a fabulous cooking demo from a highly regarded Twin Cities chef, and were honored to have both our scientific advisors, noted mycologist Dr. Tom Volk from the University of Wisconsin, Lacrosse, and Dr. Scott Bates from the Uni- versity of Minnesota, give presentations. We held another fabulous photo contest and presented at Da Vinci Fest and the State Fair, giving many of our members the opportu- nity to assist in presenting to the general public. I would like to expand this going forward by establishing a list of our members interested in giving mushroom talks and presenta- tions, and assisting them in getting started. Many requests come to our society each year for speakers, reflecting the interest the general public now has in foraging and natu- ral foods.
