On Sunday, June 10 at 1pm, curator Kelani Nichole gives a free public talk at SITE Santa Fe as part of the opening weekend of the Currents New Media Festival. Titled “The Networked Avant-garde,” her talk is presented by the Thoma Foundation in partnership with SITE Santa Fe and Currents New Media. She has presented versions of TRANSFER Download at NADA New York; the Chronus Art Center, Shanghai; HeK Basel; the Current Museum, ; and the Minnesota Street Project, San Francisco. Since 2013, Nichole has supported artists working with computer-based practices through TRANSFER, an exhibition space in Brooklyn exploring the friction between networked studio practice and its physical instantiation.

TRANSFER Download is shown within the Thoma Foundation’s digital art collection at Art House, Santa Fe. Spanning the global history of computer art of the past fifty years, the Foundation’s collection includes some of the first algorithmic plotter drawings on paper, software-driven, generative, and custom-coded artworks, interactive works based on real-time gaming platforms, internet-based or networked art, and works that utilize LED and LCD displays.
