Order No. 19-15-01 USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Camping Restrictions

Home , Tahoe National Forest, Ward Creek (Lake Tahoe)

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to protect natural resources, the following acts are prohibited within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. This Order is effective from May 8, 2015, through May 8, 2017.

Camping, except in the areas listed below for a combined total of no more than 14 days, or as otherwise provided, during a calendar year

1. Within the fee campgrounds shown on Exhibit 1. 2. Within the designated campsites in the Buck Lake area, as shown on Exhibits 1 and 2. 3. Within 300 feet of the Tahoe Rim Trail as shown on Exhibit 1, excluding the areas as follows: a. Within the Watson Lake area as shown on Exhibit 5. b. Within the 64 Acres area as shown on Exhibit 5. 4. Within the Desolation Wilderness, with a valid Wilderness Permit issued by the Forest Service, as shown on Exhibits 1 and 2. 5. Within 300 feet of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, from its intersection with the southern boundary of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, then north to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, except the area between Highway 50 and the southern boundary of the Desolation Wilderness, as shown on Exhibit 1. 6. Within 300 feet of Genoa Peak Road (Forest Road No. 14N32), from its intersection with White Hill Spur Road (Forest Road No. 14N32A), then south to its second intersection with Logan House Loop Road (Forest Road No. l4N33), as shown on Exhibit 3. 7. Within 300 feet of Logan House Loop Road (Forest Road No. 14N33), as shown on Exhibit 3. 8. Within the Meiss Management Area, as shown on Exhibits 1 and 4. 9. Within the Mount Rose Wilderness Area, as shown on Exhibit 1. 10. Within 300 feet of the McKinney-Rubicon Springs Road (Forest Road No. 14N34), from its intersection with the Off-Highway Vehicle Staging Area, then west to its intersection with the boundary of the Tahoe National Forest, as shown on Exhibit 2. 11. Within the designated campsites at Watson Lake, Blackwood Canyon and Luther Campgrounds, as shown on Exhibits 1 and 5, for no more than seven consecutive days.
