A variety of collecting methods was used, including netting, light attracting, light trapping and pheromone trapping. The specimens were identified by the currently available pictorial sources and determination keys. Many were also sent to specialists for confirmation or identification. The majority of the data was from Kanawha County, reflecting the area of more intensive sampling effort by the senior author. Termites (Isoptera) in the Azores: an overview of the four invasive species currently present in the archipelago. Arquipelago. Life and Marine Sciences 30: 39-55. In this contribution we summarize the current status of the known termites of the Azores (North Atlantic; 37-40° N, 25-31° W). Since 2000, four species of termites have been iden- tified in the Azorean archipelago. These are spreading throughout the islands and becoming common structural and agricultural pests. Two termites of the Kalotermitidae family, Cryp- totermes brevis (Walker) and Kalotermes flavicollis (Fabricius) are found on six and three of the islands, respectively. The other two species, the subterranean termites Reticulitermes grassei Clemént and R. flavipes (Kollar) of the Rhinotermitidae family are found only in confined areas of the cities of Horta (Faial) and Praia da Vitória (Terceira) respectively. Due to its location and weather conditions the Azorean archipelago is vulnerable to coloni- zation by invasive species. The fact that there are four different species of termites in the Azores, all of them considered pests, is a matter of concern. Here we present a comparative description of these species, their known distribution in the archipelago, which control measures are being used against them, and what can be done in the future to eradicate and control these pests in the Azores. -

Wallacea Baly, 1859, Pistosia Weise, 1905 and Neodownesia Gressitt, 1953 are transferred from Gonophorini to Bothryonopini based on absence of setigerous pores on the pronotum, mouthparts situated close to antennal inser- tions, scutellum on the same plane as the elytra, and morphology of the larva. Pistosia, stat. restit., and Neodownesia, stat. restit., are removed from synonymy of Wallacea based on the structure of mouthparts and antennae. Three species are included in Pistosia: P. maculata Weise, 1905, P. terminalis (Baly, 1869) comb. nov. (from Estigmena Hope, 1840), and P. testacea (Fabricius, 1801); all endemic to Sulawesi and neighbouring small islands. Type localities of all three species are specifi ed and Arecaceae is considered as potential host plant family. Three species are also included in Neodownesia: N. sita (Maulik, 1919) comb. nov., N. mediovittata (Gestro, 1920) stat. restit. & comb. nov., and N. rubra Gressitt, 1953, stat. restit.; the fi rst two are transferred from Wallacea and the last two are removed from synonymy with N. sita based on study of type material. Distribution of Neodownesia species is corrected, N. mediovittata and N. sita are reported as new to Thailand. Keys to genera of Bothryonopini and to species of Pistosia and Neodownesia are also given. -

EFSA supporting publication 2015:EN-795 EXTERNAL SCIENTIFIC REPORT Inventory and review of quantitative models for spread of plant pests for use in pest risk assessment for the EU territory1 NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology 2 Maclean Building, Benson Lane, Crowmarsh Gifford, Wallingford, OX10 8BB, UK ABSTRACT This report considers the prospects for increasing the use of quantitative models for plant pest spread and dispersal in EFSA Plant Health risk assessments. The agreed major aims were to provide an overview of current modelling approaches and their strengths and weaknesses for risk assessment, and to develop and test a system for risk assessors to select appropriate models for application. First, we conducted an extensive literature review, based on protocols developed for systematic reviews. The review located 468 models for plant pest spread and dispersal and these were entered into a searchable and secure Electronic Model Inventory database. A cluster analysis on how these models were formulated allowed us to identify eight distinct major modelling strategies that were differentiated by the types of pests they were used for and the ways in which they were parameterised and analysed. These strategies varied in their strengths and weaknesses, meaning that no single approach was the most useful for all elements of risk assessment. Therefore we developed a Decision Support Scheme (DSS) to guide model selection. The DSS identifies the most appropriate strategies by weighing up the goals of risk assessment and constraints imposed by lack of data or expertise. Searching and filtering the Electronic Model Inventory then allows the assessor to locate specific models within those strategies that can be applied. -

The preliminary account of the Pyraustinae of Japan was given by C. STOLL in his Papillons Exotiques, vol. iv, 1782, and in this publication he described a new species Phalaena (Pyralis) fascialis STOLL (=l£ymenia recurvalis FABR.). In 1860, MOTSCHULSKY in Etud. Entom. vol. ix, enu merated a new genus Nomis (= Udea), two new species Sylepta quadri maculalis, Udea albopedalis, the latter is the genotype of Nomis, and an unrecorded species Pyrausta sambucalis SCHIFF. et DEN. In regard to Sylepta quadrimaculalis MOTSCH., this species was originally placed under genus Botyodes, and with its specific name Sylepta quadrimaculalis was already given by KOLLER for a Pyralid-moth in 1844, while G. Благовещенск E-mail: [email protected] Для южной части Дальнего Востока России приводится 132 вида широко- крылых огневок (Pyraloidea, Crambidae: Pyraustinae), относящихся к 51 роду из трех триб. Хорологический анализ показал, что ядром фауны являются притихо- океанские суббореальные южно-лесные и ориентальные виды, которые харак- терны для неморальных лесов Восточной Палеарктики. Второй по величине ареалогический комплекс объединяет бореальные лесные виды с различной долготной составляющей – трансголарктические, транспалеарктические и евро- сибирские. Настоящая работа посвящена обзору фауны и хорологическому анализу ширококрылых огневок подсемейства Pyraustinae (Pyraloidea: Crambidae) юга Дальнего Востока России. Обзор фауны ширококрылых огневок Обширное подсемейство собственно ширококрылых огневок Pyraustinae Meyrick, 1890 представлено на юге Дальнего Востока России 3 трибами, 51 ро- дом, включающими 132 вида. Трибы внутри подсемейства отличаются рядом апоморфий, а наиболее надежно – по строению ункуса в гениталиях самцов. Номинальная триба подсемейства Pyraustini характеризуется нераздвоенным умеренно широким средней длины ункусом. К данной трибе относится 31 род и 94
