The advertisement continues: “Consisting of 65 churches, the Framland Deanery is centred on and is based in north-east . The Bishop of Leicester seeks to recruit seven new full time priests plus one priest who is interested in exploring the ‘house for duty’ concept. “All of these roles will be parochially based but with additional deanery wide responsibilities. If you enjoy working collaboratively, affirming lay ministries, are interested in strategic development and are comfortable in leading change we would like to meet you.” The deanery was holding two opens days, on Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1, for possible applicants to explore the deanery, offering overnight accommodation and dinner at Launde Abbey. The second part of the recruitment process sets Wednesday October 19 as the deadline for applications with interviews planned for Friday November 11. The advertisement says the second part of the recruitment process “will be more focussed on the parochial role and will centre on interaction with the local churches and a panel interview.”  There are some 400 House for Duty clergy in the Church of . Women’s Institutes Barsby and Ashby Folville: The annual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday Octo- ber 12 and members will also hear about making Christmas decorations. The competi- tion is “A Christmas decoration”. Gaddesby: After the fine afternoon in August enjoying good food and company at the Garden Party members got into fitness mode at the September meeting trying out a little Tai Chi with Larraine Tucker. On Wednesday October 12 there will be a craft ses- sion led by one of our members which will include making decorations for the tree to be entered in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s, Melton Mowbray The competition country is Italy and please remember to bring any items you have for the WI Table Top Sale at Centre on November 5. South Croxton: Members will have an introduction to tea and tea-tasting by Anna Sta- sinkska on Thursday October 20. Guests are very welcome; the cost is £5 which includes food and a cuppa. Ashby Folville and Barsby Wedding: The wedding of Thomas Gee and Phillipa Gamble took place on Septem- ber 10 at St Mary’s, we offer our congratulations to them both. The ecumenical service was carried out by Canon Michael Wilson and Fr Kevin Yell of O’Regan, USA. RH Church visit: A group from the Richard III Society will visit St Mary’s on October 20 to look at the stained glass windows, designed by the William Morris Arts and Craft movement, which depict Edward II, the wedding feast at Cana, the Good Shepherd and Samaritan with five scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. Twyford St Andrew's Church is looking for someone to take over the role of secretary to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) from Sandy Johnson who will be retiring from this position at the end of March 2017. It is an unpaid voluntary role and needs someone who has some IT skills, can prepare agendas and chair meetings in the absence of the vicar/other chairperson, record print and distribute minutes to PCC members and arrange for follow up/action to any issues or decisions that the PCC members make at meetings (4/5 per year).

The secretary also organises, advertises and assists with fund-raising activities through- out the year, ensures that any safeguarding procedures (young people and the vulnerable) are adhered to within the church environment and allows access to church records. Church cleaning and flower rotas are drawn up and distributed by the secretary and war- den Mrs Dorothy Edwards, and the secretary and warden liaise with organisers of the church mowing, bell ringing and clock-winding teams and with the treasurer. Some understanding of Church of England regular services, baptisms, weddings and funerals would be advantageous. There is an administrative office at Great Dalby which can offer help.
