Project to Link Benchasiri and Lumphini Parks as New Tourist Site in (25/5/2021)

The Government has approved a project to link two public parks, namely Benchasiri and Lumphini, as a new tourist site in Bangkok, in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.

The decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee on the project via video-conference, chaired by Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on 24 May 2021.

The Prime Minister stated that the two public parks will be combined as a new park in which Thai people will take pride. Apart from serving as a new attraction for both Thais and foreign visitors, the project will also help ease the problem of PM 2.5 dust particles.

The Prime Minister also proposed that seasonal flowers be planted in the new park to add colors to the city. The park should become a learning center where the general public and family members will be able to share activities together. There should be venues for sports and exercise and garden music.

He hoped that all groups of people, including vulnerable groups, would have access to this new park, which will focus on safety and cleanliness for everyone.

Benchasiri Park is located on and Lumphini Park on Rama IV Road.
