THE COUNTY OF SOMERSET (A38 BRIDGWATER ROAD AND A361 WALFORD CROSS/ ROAD) (CREECH ST MICHAEL, AND ) (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2014

NOTICE is hereby given that proposes to make the above Order in exercise of its powers under Section 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act of 1984”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984, the effect of which is to introduce a 50 mph speed limit on the section of road specified in the Schedule to this Order.

A copy of the Order, the plan showing the extents of the restriction and the Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the order may be inspected during normal office hours at (i) Deane Area Highway Office, Burton Place, Taunton, TA1 4HE or (ii) Somerset County Council, B Block Reception, County Hall, Taunton, TA1 4DY or online at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order may do so in writing, specifying the grounds on which it is made, to Somerset County Council, Traffic Management, C Block, County Hall, Taunton, TA1 4DY and received no later than the 18th September 2014.

SCHEDULE

50 mph Speed Limit

A38, Bridgwater Road – From a point 210 metres SOUTH WEST of its junction with A361 WALFORD CROSS in CREECH ST MICHAEL northwards to a point that meets the 40mph gateway in NORTH PETHERTON.

A361 Walford Cross/Glastonbury Road - From a point 85 metres EAST of its junction with OLD LIPE LANE in CREECH ST MICHAEL westwards to a point 40 metres WEST of the junction with OLD LIPE LANE in CREECH ST MICHAEL.

To also include the access lanes (A38 and A361 spurs) between the A38 and A361 Walford Cross.

SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL in exercise of its powers under Section 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act of 1984”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984, hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order shall come into force on the xx xx 2014 and may be cited as “The County of Somerset (A38 Bridgwater Road and A361 Walford Cross/ Glastonbury Road) (Taunton and North Petherton) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2014”.

2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the length of road specified in the Schedule to this order.
