Welcome letter Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 1st Southeastern Europe Cardionephrology and Hypertension Congress "KARNEF 2013", to be held from May 9 to 11, 2013, in Nis , Serbia.
This is the sixth meeting of Serbian cardiologists and nephrologists and the first meeting of Southern Europe cardiologists and nephrologists, with impressive number of speakers from abroad. Pathophysiologists, clinical pharmacologists, biochemists, endocrinologists, neurologists, vascular and cardiosurgeons will participate in the meeting as well.
The main points to be discussed are state of the art aspects of CVS complications in renal patients and the influence of primary CVS diseases upon kidney damage. Like in the previous meetings, an important part of our programme will be prevention, early detection and treatment of CVS disorders in renal patients. Also, we will try to draw attention to arterial hypertension, especially, in older patients, along with reviewing new diagnostical and therapeutical possibilities.
The main activities will be accompanied by several mini symposia, as well as exhibition of pharmaceutical products, instruments and equipment.
Apart from invited speakers from our country and abroad, in this already traditional school of cardionephrology, an important part of the meeting is free communication and posters.
We hope that we managed to draw attention to the necessity for every nephrologist never to forget the heart in his patient and cardiologist not to forget his patient's kidney. In the last eight years we have successfully cooperated with the specialists from other medical fields, showing our multidisciplinary approach and team work.
I hope that you will contribute to this meeting with your active participation.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in Nis. Sincerely, Prof. Dr. Sonja Radenković President of Organising Committee 3 The First Southeastern Europe Cardionephrology and Hypertension Congress May9-1 1 , 201 3 , Ni s
