Since singing from a young age and learning guitar in school (mostly "to get out of class") Elston spent most of her time day dreaming about being on stage and it wasn't long before she was on one. After touring around the UK with several bands beyond the bounds of school, she decided to go it alone and move to the pop capital – Liverpool. "After discovering second hand vinyl copies of bands like The Beatles & Beach Boys, my songwriting completely immersed itself in to that 60s sound. I didn't want my music to be about dancing in some club wearing hot pants, I wanted it to be raw, to mean something" and it didn't take long for others to notice Sammi stood out from the crowd. Her first solo single 'Don't Fall For Me' (recorded with Matt O'Grady – You Me At Six producer) got a lot of attention from radio play/news articles and a supporting slot with American star Nell Bryden on her UK tour. Elston is back with her brand new EP 'Welcome to Wonderland' and is set to make lasting impressions. The Travelling Band Over five years and 400+ shows since their formation, the band have garnered an enviable reputation as one of the U.K's tightest live acts and hardest working bands. These factors captured perfectly within their two live albums, highlighting an ability to utterly feel, not just play music, adapting the painstakingly recorded versions, adding rawer elements.

And so to 2014 a third album 'The Big Defreeze' appeared on the horizon, funded through a successful Pledge Music campaign and produced by Iestyn Polson (David Gray, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Simple Kid) at The Church Studios, Crouch End, . The 'Hands Up' EP served up a taste of what was to come – original ingredients are maintained, intricate guitar lines and infectious rhythms interact with expansive chord structures and subtle tempo changes, the recipe incorporates a new vivacious flavour. There's far more to The Travelling Band than primarily meets eye or ear, continuing to develop and flourish from festival favourites into fully fledged recording artists, building a legacy destined to stand the test of time.

Monday 25th May – Beth Prior The Lord Combermere – begins at 7:00pm Conceived on Soul & Motown, born in Hereford, raised on Nick Drake, Morrissey and John Martyn, and found her voice singing along to the divas of the 90's... These influences were given a healthy dash of Reggae & Ska in her late teens that resulted in a sound that told stories with DnB sound systems booming in the peripheral.... Beth's music with just a voice & a guitar may be much quieter than what happened "the night before" but everyone who danced eventually needs to kick back and chill... This is where you'll find her...Tonight, accompanied by some cool licks on the liquorice stick by...... guess who......

Monday 25th May – Pete Watkins The Shroppie Fly – begins at 7:30pm Singer, songwriter, guitarist Pete Watkins is a natural performer who engages with his audience, whether playing cover songs in his own unique style or performing his original self–penned songs. Pete's original songs combine thought–provoking lyrics with beautiful and highly memorable, even ear–worm–quality, melodies. The result is a unique sound which brings together folk, acoustic roots and a hint of jazz and blues. This year Pete is performing and promoting his latest album of original songs entitled Iron, Stone & Steel. Listen out for Pete's strong vocals – a typical Welshman's voice – on the song 'Easier to Breathe' which tells of a coalminer reflecting on his life, proud of his job and his place in community. 'I Bought A Dream' evokes a darker mood of city–life loneliness and what it might drive you to, whilst 'Where Will I Find You?' captures walking wind–in–hair in some beautiful place, whilst the world news is all bad... What do other people say? "I often go and see Pete Watkins perform and always want to get my bass out and join in. Now at last he has come up with a CD of his own material and is performing his own stuff at shows. "Iron Stone and Steel" is a lovely collection of his songs so do check it out and try to get to one of his gigs." Dave Pegg, Fairport Convention. "Pete's solo performances are legendary, playing songs from the widest possible range of era's and styles. What is less well known, however, is that Pete is no mean songwriter himself, his songs range from up–beat numbers that get your feet tapping to sensitive and thoughtful songs drawing upon Pete's life experiences." Derek & Mary Droscher – Banbury Folk Club & Banbury Folk Festival Organisers
