Welcome to the Christmas term at The Theatre Workshop! TERM DATES w/c 15th September- w/c 1st December Welcome back to all our students. We hope you all had a wonderful summer break and are feeling ready and refreshed for another exciting term at The Theatre Workshop! EXTRA DANCE CLASSES We are pleased to announce that we are now offering EXTRA DANCE at all of our schools! Extra Dance is a fortnightly class that takes place before or after the main session (depending on the school) at a cost of £40 per term. Students have the chance to further improve on their dance technique and from this term the class will prepare students to compete as a class in dance festivals in Sussex! STUDENT SUCCESS Yet again, our students have been securing fabulous roles on stage and screen! -Abigail Eames and Eloise Barnes have recently filmed for hit BBC TV show 'Doctor Who'. - Max Newitt and Harvey Pearce have secured roles in musical 'Gypsy' at Chichester Festival Theatre with Imelda Staunton. -Kitty Peterkin will film the role of Young Polly in new CBBC show 'Hetty Feather'. -Fresh from filming her second series of 'Hank Zipzer' for CBBC and a role in 'Holby City', Madeline Holliday has landed a lead role in the BBC's comedy adaptation of the Professor Branestawm books. -Baz Patterson secured a Sky commercial after his very first casting! - Eliot Milward and Logan Brewer both secured a role in the UK Tour of 'Annie Get Your Gun' at The Theatre Royal, Brighton - Ex-student Richard Hadfield took the country by storm when he won Britain's Got Talent with his band Collabro. Since then, their debut album has gone gold and they are embarking on a UK tour! - A number of students from across our schools have been selected to perform in professional operas 'Madama Butterfly' and 'Rigoletto' for Ellen Kent at theatres in Brighton, Southsea and Eastbourne. CHOIR INFORMATION This term, choir rehearsals will be taking place at Roedean School on Sundays at a new time of 10am-12:30pm. This terms choir rehearsal dates are: Sunday 28th September Sunday 19th October Sunday 23rd November This term, the choir will have the opportunity to perform at the Child of Sussex Awards at Brighton's Grand Hotel on 31st October. BROADWAY EXPERIENCE 27th-29th October 2014 We are delighted to be able to offer a UK exclusive! The Broadway Experience is an exciting three day Musical Theatre Workshop in October half term, usually exclusive to those in New York! Open to group 2's and above, if you are a budding triple threat, this workshop is for you. The Broadway Experience is a New York based musical theatre program designed to create and inspire triple threat performers. Students undergo an intense, disciplined study of dance, voice, and acting with current Broadway professionals and incredible master teachers. Students become stronger, versatile, and more dynamic performers, preparing themselves for a professional career at the highest level. The cost is £199 and the course will run for three days over the October half term break at Roedean School between the hours of 10am-5pm. SPECIAL OFFER The first ten people to sign up will receive £20 off the cost of the course. For more information, visit www.thebroadwayexperience.com PARTNERSHIP WITH ROEDEAN SCHOOL We are pleased to announce our new partnership with the prestigious and world reknowned Roedean School in Brighton! We are working with new Director of Drama at Roedean Jay Green, founder of the Petersfield Shakespeare Festival, to provide new and exciting opportunities for our students. We are delighted to have the use of such wonderful facilities and look forward to developing this relationship further. OPEN MIC UK/ TEENSTAR We are now the official Brighton partner of Open Mic UK- the UK's largest search for unsigned singing talent, responsible for discovering artists like Birdy and Luke Friend. The Theatre Workshop's Creative Director Lora Munro has therefore been invited to sit on the panel of this year's competition with the hope of finding a new star in Sussex. Congratulations to all of our talented students who have auditioned so far in the competition. Don't worry if you missed out, there is still time to apply for their sister competition TeenStar which we will also be supporting. For more information, visit www.teenstarcompetition.co.uk HUNGRY WOLF EDINBURGH SUCCESS Our Youth Theatre Company Hungry Wolf achieved great success at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival with more fabulous reviews for their productions of 'The Electra Project' and 'Joe's Cautionary Tales'. The company received nothing but 5* and 4* reviews for their runs at both the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals- a fabulous achievement! They even got a tweet from Sir Ken Robinson! 'Just laughed till I peed myself! The Electra Project by Hungry Wolf at the Space is now officially one of my favourite things ever! Genius!' Auditions will take place over the Christmas break and the piece will be rehearsed in February half term. More information to follow! JOHN CLARK HEADSHOT SHOOT Due to new rules implemented by the agency, all students on the agency are taking part in a compulsory headshot shoot with London's leading headshot photographer John Clark on Saturday 4th October at Brighton & Hove High School. The shoot is heavily subsidised due to the large group booking, and will cost £50. This is a fabulous opportunity to get some great new headshots and this offer is also open to students not on the agency who would like some new pictures taken. To arrange a time slot, please contact [email protected] NEW CHICHESTER SATURDAY SCHOOL! We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new Chichester SATURDAY School. The school now runs from Central CofE Primary School at 10am-1pm on Saturday mornings. We hope that this move will make the school more accessible to people in the Chichester area. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST WEEK OF TERM WILL BE W/C 1ST DECEMBER HOUSEKEEPING NOTES - All students are expected to wear the correct uniform to all sessions. A Theatre Workshop T-shirt and plain black jazz shoes are compulsory, and should be worn with plain black leggings, dance trousers or jogging bottoms. - Please do keep us informed if you change your email address, home address or contact telephone number.
