Northamptonshire Police Innovative examples of reparation in restorative justice Would really appreciate any innovative examples of reparation in restorative justice. We had an example where a youth had smashed the window of a charity shop. The reparation was for the youth to work in the shop, free of charge, for a number of days. Thanks

- RE: Innovative examples of reparation in restorative justice The Cottingham local Policing Team in Humberside recently made 3 lads train and run a charity road race. They had been knocking on doors collecting for charity and keeping the money. It was well publicised and received good feedback from the public.

North Yorks Police RE: Innovative examples of reparation in restorative justice Hi In we have had some really good examples I have listed a few below but get in touch if you want more. one was where a had stolen from a newsagents obviously apologised and the item was returned it was of very low value but the parents felt could do more, so parents and agreed that should go into the newsagents every week for a month and put in half of pocket money in to a charity box in the newsagents. This was a charity close to the heart of the owner of the newsagents We had two young who went into a headmasters office and stole a , some and . low level and very little value items but they did not go to that school so technically would of been classed burglary other!! It got it downgraded and they did a litter pick around the school after a restorative meeting with the headmaster. In North Allerton one night a group of Youths caused a lot damage, graffiti, over several premises across the town centre. There was outcry in the town as it was very unsightly and across so many buildings. The local SNT found the offenders and got the offenders to clean up the mess alongside the local council who supervised with their youth workers and provided the paint and equipment. This was well publicised in the local paper and got some really good feedback from the public as the graffiti was cleaned up and before and after pictures were put in the paper.

– Greater Manchester Police RE: Innovative examples of reparation in restorative justice In Wigan, we work very closely with the YOT Team and all juveniles who receive a RJ disposal are entered into a 5 hrs reparation project, which is run across the borough and has included working in shops, cleaning walls and painting community buildings. We have had some success with RJ conferences as well. The onus is on them opting out of RJ work not in and we have a good take up rate.
