Combining the best of folk music and rock and roll, with a touch of country thrown in, they gave us such hits as "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream," "You Didn't Have to be So Nice," "Nashville Cats" and the anthem for a hot July evening, "Summer in the City." All this in the span of 4 years and 5 albums. In 1967, Zal Yanovsky left the band to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Jerry Yester, a member of the Modern Folk Quartet and friend of the band since its earliest days. All of the band's energy was soon focused on recording their fourth album the very am- bitious “Everything Playing.” It was the first attempt for a rock band to record an album on the new Ampex 16 track tape recorder and quite a challenge it was. It was worth the effort however, producing hits like "Darlin' Be Home Soon," "Six O-Clock" and "She's Still A Mystery To Me" on the American charts and "Boredom" and "Money" in the UK and Europe. In 1991, a long awaited settlement with their record company inspired Joe and Steve to contact Jerry and start up the Lovin' Spoonful again. March 6, 2000 marked a milestone for the band. They were officially inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. The Lennon Sisters Wednesday, January 25th, 4:00 & 7:30 PM America first fell in love with The Lennon Sisters as the "girls next door." For 13 years on The Lawrence Welk Show, the Sisters (Dianne, Peggy, Kathy and Janet), charmed the nation with their sweet-voiced harmonies. The combination of their extraordinary natural vocal talents, hard working professionalism, striking looks, unassuming personalities and strong family values earned them a place in the hearts of millions of fans nationwide. That's why, as youngsters, they were dubbed "America's Sweethearts of Song" and Americans still admire them today. The vocal group also embarked on a successful recording career upon the release of their first album, Let’s Get Acquainted. Their early singles Tonight, You Belong to Me and Sad Movies Make Me Cry were Billboard chart hits. On television, they made hundreds of guest appearances on virtually every variety and talk show including The Mickey Mouse Club, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Hollywood Palace, Perry Como’s Kraft Music Hall, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Tonight Show and The Cher Show. The Lennon Sisters continued their success on television with their own TV show and for over a decade they also ap- peared as special guests on The Andy Williams Show. In 1994, they launched a new facet of their career, becoming the featured performers at the Champagne Theater in Branson, Missouri for 17 years, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area and helping to establish it as an entertainment mecca. In November 2016, they begin a two month run headlining with The Osmond Brothers, in their Traditional Christmas Show in Branson, Missouri. They are also beautifully joined by Janet’s 3 singing and dancing granddaughters, This marks The Lennon Sisters’ 23 consecutive seasons in Branson, MO. For their work on television they were awarded a star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, immortalizing their popularity. Their instant stardom has lasted over 60 years; The Lennon Sisters are American Legends. The Osmonds Wednesday, February 22nd - 4:00 & 7:30 PM Here at VDO we have enjoyed performances from Marie in 2012 and Donny in 2014, now we get to see the rest of the group. The Osmonds are an American family music group with a long and varied career—a career that took them from singing barbershop music as children, to achieving success as teen-music idols, to producing a hit television show, and to continued success as solo and group performers. When it began as a barbershop quartet, the group consisted of brothers Alan Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Merrill Osmond, and Jay Osmond. They were later joined by younger siblings Donny Osmond, Marie Osmond, and Jimmy Osmond. Merrill, the unique lead voice of the famous Osmond family is also an established solo artist, writer, producer, motivational speaker and philanthropist. In collaboration with his brothers, Merrill has written the music and lyrics for five number one hit records and sang lead to the group’s collective 27 gold records. Collectively the Osmonds have produced 47 gold and platinum records with rec- ord sales topping 100 million worldwide. The Osmond Family still holds the record for achieving an amazing 11 gold and platinum awards in one year, something not even surpassed by the Beatles. Merrill has received two “People’s Choice Awards”, five number one “Billboard Hits”, and two “Grammy Award” nominations. Jay started entertaining with his brothers at the age of two and a half! Jay is the youngest of the original Osmond Brothers group. Jay says he was about eight years old when he learned to play the drums…and learn to play he did. During the 70’s, Jay was voted one of the top ten drummers in the country. Jay co-produced “The Donny & Marie Show” in 1976, and was also the musical director and choreographer for Donny and Marie’s dance numbers. Jay also choreographed the Osmond Brothers’ numbers for television and stage. Jimmy - Jimmy has been performing on television since he was three years old. He appeared on "The Andy Williams Show," "The Flip Wilson Show," "The Glen Campbell Show," "The Mac Davis Show," "American Bandstand," and the Osmonds’ television spe- cials. Beginning in 1976, Jimmy performed as a regular on the "Donny and Marie Show" (which later became "The Osmond Family Show") each week. Jimmy found early success in 1970 in Japan where he was the first in his famous family to record and have a number one hit single. WWW.CAL-AM.COM/RESORTS 1452 S.
