The Musical to open UK tour at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry will be get- ting into the Christmas spirit early this year when it stages Nativity! The Musical. Based on the popular UK film franchise and running at the Belgrade from Tuesday 23 to Sunday 28 October, the show is written and di- rected by Coventry resident Debbie Isitt, who also created the movies. The production received its world premiere in autumn 2017 at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Commenting on the news, Debbie said: “After an incredibly successful opening in 2017, I’m thrilled that the story of Nativity! is heading home to Coventry. I couldn’t think of a better place for this year’s UK tour to start, and can’t wait for Coventry’s audiences to enjoy this very special show.” To book tickets for the show, ring 024 7655 3055 or visit belgrade.co.uk/event/nativity Coventry-born actor to British soldier art on show RSC ‘live lessons’ to be star as Romeo at the RSC at Warwickshire gallery streamed into schools Coventry-born actor Bally Gill is to play Schools in the UK are set to be given unprece- Romeo in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s dented access to the Royal Shakespeare Com- (RSC) forthcoming production of Romeo And pany’s (RSC) world famous rehearsal rooms, Juliet. as part of a new series of 45-minute ‘live les- Born and brought up in the Foleshill area of sons’. The city beat off strong competition from Paisley, Stoke, Sunderland and Swansea to win the presti- gious national title. Commenting on the success, Laura McMillan, Manager of the Coventry City of Culture Trust, said: “This is a win for Coventry, a win for young people and a win for diversity. The economic impact will be huge for the city and the West Midlands. It’s been a bid by and for the people of Coventry. It’s brought so many people and organisations together - and this is just the start. Over the next three years, we will ensure that everyone in the city, which has been moving people by cycle, car and jet engine, is now moving people through culture.” Coming up...
