PRIDE COACH SETH TIERNEY: Hofstra Men’s Coach Seth Tierney is in his first season with the Pride. Only the fifth head 2007 HOFSTRA MEN’S LACROSSE coach in the program’s history, Tierney came back to Hofstra after a (3-5, 1-2) six year stint at Johns Hopkins University, the last two years as associate head coach. As the Blue Jays offensive coordinator, he was at the architect of one of the most potent and explosive offenses in the (2-5, 1-2) nation in recent years. Towson has 23 lettermen returning off last year’s 8-6 team that finished the season ranked #14 nationally, but failed to win the CAA tournament title for the first time in four years. Junior Mike Unterstein recorded a goal and three assists to tie Dooley for game-high point honors, senior Ryan Miller added two goals and one assist, and Mike Colleluori tallied two goals for the Pride. The Colonials were led by Carlo Sunseri with two goals and one assist and Andrew Watt with two goals.

Hofstra jumped on Robert Morris for five first quarter goals to take a 5-0 lead entering the second period. Dooley opened the scoring, with his tenth goal of the year, just 1:20 into the contest. Senior Zach Heyl made it 2-0 with his second of the second just 49 seconds later. Mike Unterstein notched his fifth goal of the season 3:20 later, and freshman Tom Interlicchio tallied his fifth of the year and the Pride's fourth straight unassisted goal with 4:52 to play in the quarter to make it 4-0. Dooley, notched his second of the game and 11th of the season, on the man-up, off a pass from Mike Unterstein with 2:09 to play in the first to close out the scoring.

But the Colonial would tally three of the next four goals to close to 6- 3 early in the third quarter. Robert Morris senior Carlo Sunseri started the mini-rally with his 12th goal of the year, off a pass from Pat Britton 2:35 into the second quarter. After Muscarella boosted the Pride lead to 6-1 with his sixth goal of the season almost two minutes later, Sunseri scores his second of the game with 4:51 to play in the second to close out the scoring in the first half. Only five second quarter saves by Colonials' freshman goalie Sal Barcia kept the Pride from blowing the game wide open.

In the third quarter, RMU junior Andrew Watt took a feed from Sunseri and notched his team-leading 15th goal of the year 2:13 into the period to close the deficit to 6-3. But Hofstra, which has dropped five games by a single goal this season, would not let that happen on this day. The Pride scored the next seven goals including six in the third quarter. Miller tallied his two goals and one assist, Colleluori recorded his two goals, and freshman Dan Stein posted his goal and assist during the seven goal run that gave the Pride a 13-3 advantage early in the fourth quarter.

Hofstra outshot Robert Morris, 50-18, and picked up 32 ground balls to the Colonials' 20. Pride goalie Danny Orlando needed to make just three saves for his third victory of the year.
