Ils appartenaient à M.PRONO, secrétaire administratif, adjoint de M.LAGARDE, Chef du Bureau des Opérations Subventionnées, Division technique et opérationnelle. Ce bureau était chargé de tous les problèmes de financement, subventions notamment, d'où les dossiers de demandes d'aide qui constituent l'essentiel du versement. It is absolutely vital that when these individuals arrive on a cam­ pus there is a fraternity to meet their needs-one which can match their own high standards. I hope our fraternity will be such a group. The permissive fraternity which ignores drug abuse in the house will probably let down the barriers in every other way. Can this type of organization possibly be a strong force for good on the campus? What kind of leadership can come from students who . are psychologically dependent on a narcotic? I personally feel that any chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha which con­ dones the use of drugs and whose officials are neither able nor in­ clined to set and maintain the highest standards will be unable to provide the strong leadership needed in these difficult times, and is selling out the national fraternity and its own members. Some have suggested that drug usage is a dead issue and should not be a topic for this publication to consider. It might be in some places where it is accepted or the group has rejected its usage. However, it is difficult to consider it as a dead issue when more than a dozen articles appear in the daily paper each week on drug matters.

Understanding and integrating contemporary public values is there- fore critical for effective conservation outcomes. Using historic and contemporary examples, we highlight how public attitudes—expressed through the media and cam- paigns—are shaping the management of introduced and native species, as values shift towards animal welfare and mutualism. We focus on the issue of deliberate human-caused killing of wildlife, because protests against such management have disrupted traditional political and management structures that favoured eradication of wildlife across many jurisdictions and ecological contexts. In doing so, we show that it is essential to work with multiple stakeholder interest groups to ensure that wildlife management is informed by science, while also supported by public values. Achieving this hinges on appropriate science communication to build a better-informed public because management decisions are becoming increasingly democratised. Les activités du Cepremap sont réparties en cinq programmes scientifiques coordonnés par sa direction : Politique macroécono- mique en économie ouverte ; Travail et emploi ; Économie publique et redistribution ; Marchés, firmes et politique de la concurrence ; Commerce international et développement. Chaque programme est animé par un comité de pilotage constitué de trois chercheurs reconnus.
