April Audia (Olive), is a graduate of the Theatre Academy. While an Academy student, she appeared in pm- ductions of: , OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD, A PIECE Of MY HEART, and DESIRE, for which she received an Irene Ryan Award nomination. As a Guest Artist she has appeared in THE MAN WHO COULDN'T DANCE, MOON OVER BUFFALO and VOIR DIRE. Mike Garcia (Jesus) is a third semester actor at the Academy. He was previously seen here as Security Cop #2 in VOIR DIRE. This marks Mike's debut in a speaking role on the Academy Stage. Other Academy contributions include many significant backstage and front of house endeavors. Amber Harris (Renee) is a fourth semester Theater Academy student. In addition to acting, she enjoys dancing, singing, directing, playwriting and behmd the scenes crew work. Her credits include Rachel Isum in NATIONAL PASTIME, Xia in THE WOMEN OF TROY, Puckin AMIDSUMMERNIGHT'S DREAM, Rizzo in GREASE, Sally in THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and dance captain in two original musicals, both written by Mark E. He is a member of United Scenic Artist, Local #829 and is also a fellow of U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), serving on the Board of Directors for over ten years, currently serving as V.P. for Lighting. He bas won numemu awdfor his designs adhas written a new thawbook, entitled the- of Theatrical Desim, preceded by his ground breaking book. Concert Lighting: Techniques, Art, and Business. He was one of the founders in the field of touring-concert lighting working and was singled out to receive the first Concert Lighting Design of theyear Award. He has worked with music luminaries such as Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles, Electric Light Orchestra, John Denver and Blondie. Most recently, Jim received the Distinguished Lighting Designer award from The United States Institute for Theatre Technology. Neil Simon (Playwright) was born in the Bronx, New York on July 4,1927, has become one ofAmerica's most prolific, popular and successful playwrights. This Pulitzer Prize winning playwright has had dozens of plays and nearly as many major motion pictures produced. Simon has been showered with more Academy Award and Tony Award nominations than any other writer, and is the only playwright to have four Broad- way productions running simultaneously. His plays have been produced in dozens of languages, and have been blockbuster hits from Beiiine to Moscow. His true success. however, is in his unique way of exposing something real 111 the ~mericaispirit. He grey up in Manhattan and for a short timeancndcd ~ewYO& University and the Lnn'ersiry of Denver. His most significant writing job came in the early 1950s when he joined the staff of Your show of Shows, a landmarklive television comedy series. By the 1960s. Simon had begun to concentrate on writing plays for Broadway. His first hit came in 1961 with . and was soon after followed bv the verv successful comic romance Simon's brother, Danny, uho also worked on "Your Show of Shows," played a m.ijor role in his wntmg. Eight and a halfyaw older, Dmy brought Simon into the business and had shown him thc ropes. In fact, it was Danny who provided the inspiration for one of Simon's most enduring hits. After his Jivorce, Danny moved in with another divorced man, and this situation became the set-up for THE ODD COL'PLF (1966). Though Danny had begun writing the story himself, he reached a block and eventually handed it off to Simon who soon made it a smash on Broadway. had a two-year run on Broadway, won Simon his first Tonv Award. and has been adanted to television and film several times.
