Liverton
September 2019 This settlement profile has been prepared by Dartmoor National Park Authority to provide an overview of key information and issues for the settlement. It has been prepared in consultation with
SettlementParish/Town Profile: Councils Liverton and will be updated as necessary. 1 Introduction
Liverton lies on the eastern boundary of the National Park, some 3 miles south of Bovey Tracey and 1 mile from the busy A38 trunk road. The National Park boundary passes through the developed area at
Dartmoor National Park from the newer part, Coldeast, an area of the parish that has seen a
great deal of development in recent years. The older part within Dartmoor developed as a farming village but a pottery linked to a larger operation on the edge of Bovey Tracey provided useful employment.
Liverton within the National Park boundary has few facilities-village hall, play area and public house. Although the village has little in the way of shops and services, it is close to a large shopping centre on the nearby A38, and the Area Centre of Newton Abbot lies a little further away. Primary schools are
located at Ilsington and Blackpool, both close by.
